STUD might be thinking beyond reality

**A GLANCE ON AMRITA TV -ITS PLEANTY NEW REALITY SHOWS YET TO KICK OFF

**A prime-time line-up without reality televisionprogramming seems a lifetime ago. But it has only been three years since the AmritaTV added its first reality series. Just a few years of proliferation hassplintered the form into subgenres, showering viewers with nightly lineups ofalternate realities. But the more reality changes, the more it stays the oneand the same!.

In stark contrast to thesegregated nature of serials, reality programs almost universally begin with amixed cast of contestants. Who is but a “contestant?” Certainly these shows arecontests, but they are dramas, too. Stories are narratives. Through the magicof editing, contestants are transformed into characters in what can best bedescribed as an “ensemble cast.”(eg:Best Actor). The misnomer “reality” in“Reality TV” is the participants on reality television programs who merely are notcontestants in a game show, but well-developed characters in an unfoldingstory, rendered all the more dramatic by the fact that they are “real” people.

Reality TV should give us heroes who uphold, reflect, andaffirm core values of equal opportunity for social and economic mobility in ademocratic republican society through hard work, chutzpah, and a little talent, too. The talent may be the gift of being able to belt out a pop song, the skillto manipulate others to get them to achieve your aims, an ability to seduce amillionaire(bachelor) or impress a billionaire(bachelor)(BB) with yourbusiness acumen.

Reality TV is a relatively new invention(though of courseit has its antecedents), Reality TV doesn’t have the same historicalconstraints and audience expectations of those other genres.

I believe we can be both pessimistic and optimistic abouttelevision. This mode is in some ways, the very mode of television criticism.Reality television as hybridized and inter textual does not invoke simpleviewing or simple pleasures, and it demonstrates that “getting real” is donefar more than becoming real,

More, I love the shows and thestation in general at Amrita TV Broadcasts. I just wish there were freshershows and far fewer commercials. In order to do that, the station probably needsto increase its market share and its revenue side.

I love the show of Junior Citizen, produced by one of my friends, and theanimated stories, the best. The Old age snippets are really appealing and I presumemany would come forward lending a hand. The tranquil vibration of my messy broadbandroom and the serene rhythm could be felt when I see ammayodappam. I listen toswamijis vernacular speech, which is equally simple and informative.

And as for the tots and for thegirl branded mimicry let out, I wish the belly dancing and goofy hypes showswere on in the morning for us shy Moms who would never dance in front of hubbyor kids. We could show them, see this is Amrita TV and not your one withprejudiced programmes of sandhyadeepam and vastu alone. Let me comment very inexcusablythat the programme of tantric astrology by Gopalakrishnan Sir, if stopped isthe biggest blunder you committed. And similar that political satire programmecalled nadakame ulakam, looks like showing funny jestures on owns face. Pleasestop this one immediately as most often we hear in crowds, comparing thisprogramme to jayshankars programme in indiavision and obviously you can gaugethe rest.

I, Love the station. Keep up the good work. Please make some new shows andcommercials to keep your regulars happy, when you can. Also, a vegetarian showis sorely needed. Everyone can benefit from eating more vegetables, fruits andwhole grains.

Thanks!
