About 3 months back, when I wanted to replace my old shoes, I was on look out for a good quality shoes that also had style. I had seen lots of advertisements of Red Tape Shoes featuring Salmaan Khan and hence decided to check out Red Tape.
In a couple of showrooms I saw, I liked the style and the finishing too seemed good. Hence though I found the shoes a bit expensive and a bit out of my budget, I decided to buy the shoes purely on the brand pull”….believing that the quality will definitely be really good. Somehow, I did not check on Mouthshut for opinions of other readers (which I normally do before buying anything and everything)
A Costly mistake that was. Within few weeks, wrinkles started appearing all over. I started to curse myself for not referring to mouthshut, but the worse was yet to come. The front sole just gave away within 3 months !!!! My usage too is not very rough.
Now I have given them back to the shop from where I had bought (Bottoms, Andheri West, Mumbai). But that’s a waste of time; they will do some patch up job and return the shoes.
Like I read in another review here, If the company spends even a fraction of the amount they have spent on advertisement, they can improve the quality of the shoes they make.
My advice to fellow members, Even if someone gifts you these shoes, don’t use them, you will end up spoiling your relationship with the person.
As of now, my local mochi (cobbler) makes better shoes than Red Tape.
Update :24th May 2005
After keeping my shoes for nearly two months, I was pleasently surprised when I went to collect them from the shop. Instead of doing some patchwork on the old shoes, they were replaced with a brand new pair !!!!!
I will still not recommend them, but definately Redtape can be given another chance.
