After booking the ticket responsibility of ’RedBus’ is over and except a SMS of your ticket there will be no further communication. This will be clear from my experience which you may not believe:
After booking an online ticket from Delhi to Shimla there was no feedback or reply by the RedBus or City Land Travel (the private bus operator for which ticket was booked). The boarding point was not clear and operators did not pick the phone.
Some how I managed to reach boarding point (majnu ka tilla) by asking local people. However I found that the bus was missing and it was late by 1 hour. It started after 11 pm.
After sitting in the bus I noticed that it was like an older looking delux bus rather than a ’Volvo’. Seats were not comfortable and AC was ineffective. Every person related to bus service was rude. No contact address was printed on bus any where for help in case of emergency.
Well my journey was from Delhi to Shimla and after crossing the Sonipat the bus cought maasive fire. Driver after asking persistently said that new bus will reach within two hours. After two hours he said that no bus is coming and mechanic will come will repair the bus. Anyway at 2 a.m. mechanic came he tried every thing but bus did not start. It was midnight of middle of June and ladies, kids, old all were helpless and sitting/ standing on road without any assurance. Some managed to get taxi for their further journey. Well by that time we lost our patience and scolded driver, mechanic and conductor that we will call police and file a complaint against them. Then they called the owner who new every thing but was least bothered about the inconvenience to the passengers. Then it was told to us that the new bus is coming. However bus reached at 7 a.m. in the morning (after waiting for 7 hours on the road in hot weather).
We reached Shimla at 3.30 p.m. while we should have reached by 7.30 a.m.
Well this was very unfortunate and unlikely to happen with any one else. But I just want to warn you people that private bus operators are very much unreliable and irresponsible. Please first try to get govt buses like HRTC or Rajasthan travels since they are reliable. And somehow if you have to travel in a private Volvo avoid CITY LAND TRAVEL buses and confirm every thing well in advance.
