When you are talking about email the first name comes to the mind is hotmail. The worlds first and probably still the best email service. And when you look for other internet email providers you cant but stop comparing them with hotmail. I mean arent you supposed to get an idea about a product if you compare it with the best avaliable one?
Well Rediffmail has been an old player. If you remember those television advertisements lightning fast mail service and stuff? Well yeh that was an excellent marketing gig and they still stand by the lightning quick service if you compare rediffs speed with yahoo and hotmail it definitely stands out of the three.
But when compared with indiatimes well there is not much of difference. Rediff offers a 2mb space and no briefcase dont know actually how many of you use the briefcase indiatimes and yahoo offer I dont so it doesnt make much of difference.
But still a poor attachment limit of 1 mb and a maximum mail box of 2mb definitely sucks. Hotmail offers the same indiatimes emerges as the clear winner with 5mb mail box and attachment limit comparitvely higher and a briefcase of about 20 mb. Kudoos to indiatimes. But still hotmail remains a stand out I and rather prefer hotmail for its user friendliness better mail display and graphics and besides the entire msn messenger and msn worldwide the net passport thingy which allows you to access loads of information. Now thats more than you can imagine.
Rediff is a good service pretty reliable one too. Quite fast access to mail can be accessed from the mobile through gprs and has a sms version too. So its good for corporates. For corporates it also offers the business mail thing which I havent checked though I heard its good.
Rediff has pretty good features to offer though the adress book could have been better organised and rediff needs to work out with the page layout. Work a bit on the mail size too. Protection against spamming is pretty ok but against mail trojans and virus well they need to work on that. The bottom line being a fast email service with not much to offer than simple features a nice product but not quite a winner.
