Rediff.com still remains as one of those portals which still maintains its top position as far as India related sites are concerned. For me it is one of those sites, which I visit daily morning as soon as I reach office.
The reason for this are like,
It gives a glimpse of the main happenings
I check my daily horoscope (daily by Linda Goodman is not there now. so sad!!)
and my mail.
Rediffmail version 2.0 was fast. It had lot of good features like all text based, fast loading etc.
But nowadays its soooooo slow. It does not even open sometimes.I was thinking why it happened?.
I like to list down some of my thoughts and suspected reasons below.
Might have something to do with the technology CGI. Which I feel is slow when accessed my many users at the same time.
Might be due to poor server maintenance. (I can’t believe it will happen to rediff)
They came up with multilingual mails. Is it really useful? How many of you are using it? I have never sent a mail in MALAYALAM my mother tongue. Nor do I think that I need to send one in the near future. Rediff should really look into this matter as to whether this feature is needed in mails? I am not very sure whether this will affect the speed. Or server load. Depends upon their architecture on which we have no idea. But I certainly feel that this is a not very useful utility.
Its time to come up with a Rediffmail version 3.0. Which should be faster, easier to access and with new features. It should have the good features of yahoo mail and indiatimes mail.
I hope they will come up with such a kind in the near future.
