Faulty Air Conditioner Not Replaced

Reliance Digital sold us a faulty product more than a month ago, and ResQ hasn’t replaced it despite over 30 phone calls and multiple technician visits.


We purchased an Air Conditioning unit(~36, 000 rupees) from Reliance Digital in June of 2019. The AC arrived promptly but was incorrectly installed by the reliance guys. We had to call ResQ for repairs on the first day itself since the AC wasn’t cooling at all. Despite their repairs, the unit turned out to be faulty as there were Gas issues which led to excessive ice formation in the AC and expulsion of water from the vents. Every single technician who saw this immediately exclaimed that this should NOT happen in a week old AC - just look at the image I’ve attached!


Over a month of back and forth(mostly begging for communication from our side as they refused to contact us themselves), and these guys have refused to replace our AC. For the last month, we’ve had a useless box that cost 36, 000 rupees sitting in our room in this godforsaken humidity. The engineer who worked with us and his supervisor constantly ask for "more time" to resolve the issue, promising that they "will get back to us by tonight", "just need a couple more days", "have started the process and are waiting for replies", among tons of other nonsense excuses.


The excuses seem to remain the same each and every day, while they keep getting more defensive anytime we bring up the fact that they said the same thing a few days, weeks, and now a month ago.


It has now been more than a month(over 5 weeks) since our purchase, and we still do not know if or when our AC is going to be replaced. We have been nothing but patient with them, and are now absolutely furious at how we have been treated by Reliance Digital and ResQ. Time and time again they have taken advantage of our patience and taken us for a ride. Out of over 30 conversations that we’ve had with them, 95% of them were calls that we made because we weren’t getting any updates from them via call or email.


The few calls that we got from them were only made when we threatened that we would go to the consumer forum. Well, we are not waiting any longer and have lodged a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline and at the Consumer Forum, and we won’t rest until we are compensated for this theft of our time and money.


In this hyper busy day and age, it’s extremely difficult to take time out of our schedule and fight with large corporations. I wish I could give them 0 stars for how they have treated us, but I’ll have to settle for 1 and the fact that I will never shop at Reliance Digital ever again. Do yourself a favor and don’t get into this mess with them, and shop elsewhere.
