I recently had a poor experience trying to purchase a laptop at the Reliance Digital store in Vashi. The ambience is good and they have a wide range of products.
We had finalized a Dell laptop after spending a good amount of time on comparing and researching different models. The salesmen were informative though the 5% discount finally offered was hardly attractive. It was Independence Day and the discounts were not as high as advertised in the media. Also they are subject to many conditions. That is the same in most shops, so that is still okay.
After being made to wait for a good 30 mins, our purchase was being processed. We submitted all the documents required for processing.
But the finance person was very rude and discourteous to us. He ordered the sales personnel to hold back the adaptor until a bank related document was submitted, which can be done only on a weekday. When a customer is paying Rs.15000 as down payment, providing residence and photo ID proof and cancelled cheque, are they not going to provide a simple bank document?
He was so rude that we cancelled the transaction on the spot and walked out, not willing to accept only a part of the product. It was a sheer waste of time and energy for us. After we do submit the bank document also where is the guarantee that they will not make us run about several times to release the part held back?
Will they show respect and courtesy only to customers who pay in cash? If they cannot treat customers with basic respect then how on earth can they sustain their business? The store sees plenty of footfalls but many people we know have mentioned that while they check out the products and compare them with other places, they avoid making any purchases here. Today we understood the reason after our experience. We will never make the mistake of buying anything here and would advise others to be cautious too.
