It was ITCs Choupal Fresh and Landmarks Max Retails stores launch earlier, and now Mukesh Ambanis Reliance joins the list of retailers who chose Hyderabad to test waters. The city offers real estate at a price that doesnt quite pinch and a population thats happy shopping at supermarkets. A study says that, FMCG sales through modern trade are highest in Hyderabad.
It spread over 2000 to 5000 sq. ft. At the unveiling of the store for the press on Sunday, October 29, 2006, Mukesh Ambani CMD RIL said that, “This is the first small step in our attempt to build and forge strong and enduring bonds with the millions of farmers and transform our relationship with the consumers to a new level. We are starting on a pilot journey of listening to customers and learning from them.
The Hyderabad store is one of 11 pilot stores that will “listen and learn from consumers” according to Mukesh Ambani. RIL has opened few outlets of Fresh in Hyderabad & planning to launch 11 more outlets soon. You can find fresh fruits & vegetables. Besides fruits and vegetables, these stores also stock items of daily consumption like milk, bread, jam/sauces and eggs. We can also find , dal, atta, rice as well as the companys in-house products known as Reliance Select.
One of their innovations is a free shopping card viz.RelianceOne.A simple form needs to be filled up. This card entitles the shopper to get points on each purchase. For every Rs.100/- we spend, we get 1 RelianceOne point. On specific purchases one can earn bonus points. The same can be redeemed at Reliance Fresh once you have a minimum of 25 points. The membership also provides the buyer with a free accident insurance for Rs. 50, 000/-, probably not provided by other retailers & all this for free.
