Premium hiked to unrealistic height

I am well covered under mediclaim policy for my family by my employer. What if there is no job? So I started looking for family floater mediclaim policy(in year 2007). I was particularly opposed to ICICI Lombard after getting inputs on its services from a friend of mine. I heard aboutreliance from a broker. Features were great and premium was quite low. It was Gold plan with premium of under 6000/- for family of 3. I clearly asked the broker about next year premium. Broker said it would remain constant. I took the policy on 16 July 2007. I got some rebate on premium as well in2009 when I paid under 5000/-. I had taken this policy just for the case when there is no employer to support me. I have never taken benefit of any medical policy.

Now in year 2010, I was told to pay around Rs.20000/- for same gold plan. I was shocked to hear it from broker. Broker suggested me to switch to some other company. One can understand hike in premium to some extent. But an hike of 4 fold is definitely unreasonable.

I am again looking for good service provider.

But for all of you: Please stay away from Reliance.
