In just 3 words: "Use and throw"

Yes, true. That is what Jio will be: Use and throw. Explanation:

Its been 2 solid weeks of jio network and not even once did I get a speed of more than 200kbps(which is also highly unreliable) or a decent voice call, even if it were to be to another jio sim! Thats the biggest issue: Jio to jio also is a bad voice experience and when we talk about calls to other networks, it is worse. Most of the times the call doesnt connect, and even when it does connect by sheer luck, it gets disconnected in 10-20 seconds. Afterall, jio was meant to be for data, which will be the basis for everything from voice, sms and internet. The only saving grace is that it is free. As long as it is free, we are not going to lose anything, so enjoy till march31.

I have already shifted back to my original airtel sim which is fantastic in terms of consistent coverage, better calls, and consistent and reliable internet that is true 4G whereever it has and a minimum 3G speed which is 100 times better than the "1.5G-like 4G" of Jio. With Airtel, I can confidently book a tatkal ticket without the fear of network going off, whereas Jio always keeps behaving like a dim incandescent light bulb constantly flickering. Others, including Airtel and Vodafone is like a reliable LED light. It may cost you more, but the service is brilliant.

Update: After several months of using this service, it has improved and now it is one of the better options apart from airtel due to its lower price of packs as well as faster call-connect. BUT, there are still some issues with the VoLTE feature of jio because the sims are losing their VoLTE capability many times and it becomes useless and completely makes the sim data-only. I feel this issue should be resolved by jio ASAP or else they will lose lots of their customers. Another issue is the inconsistency in their network. Sometimes, it is okay, and many times it just goes into a black-out mode: no network, and even if the network does come there is no data(0kbps).

My choice now is still Airtel with Idea+Vodafone service catching up fast in terms of network coverage. Jio’s quality has miles to go to match any of its peers.
