In Gujarat, Reliance offers a Special Tariff Voucher of Rs. 99, valid for 30 days, which allows calls to mobile phones within Gujarat at 50p/min.
I recharged with this voucher on 2 Jan 2007 from the Webworld located at Shiv Ranjani Crossroads on Satellite Road.
However, I found to my surprise that I was getting billed as per the’Freedom Plan’, in which the call charges are around Rs. 2.00 per min.
I complained on*333 at least 10 times till January 16. Each time I would have to wait for about 15 mins to get through to a customer service representative, each time I would have to narrate the whole problem in full detail, and then after 2-3 days I would get a refund, but then again when I would start making outgoing calls I would be charged as per’Freedom Plan’.
This was very annoying, because I was wasting at least half an hour daily to get refund of wrong charges. I finally complained in the above mentioned webworld on 16 Jan, and they assured me that they would get the problem sorted in 24 hours.
But as expected, the problem persisted.
So, on 18th January, I had an angry interaction with the lead person in the above webworld, a guy called Ajay. He was rude to me and just said that due to technical reasons, my bill plan could not be changed. Imagine his himmat!
I was angry - so I walked out of his cubicle and went to the recharge table, a Rs. 100 note in my hand and asked for a STV 99 recharge. Once I got the confirmatory message, I told the guy on the table that I would give the money only in Mr. Ajay’s hand.
When Mr. Ajay came, I announced loudly for the benefit of all the customers in the webworld’ This company has cheated me. It took Rs. 99 from me and then did not provide the benefit. So I am paying this amount from my hard earned money again. Mr. Ajay, please collect this amount with your own hands. This is your’Chori ka maal’. Take it, you employee of a cheater company. Take it, go ahead, loot it from me - that is the true character of your company’!
All the customers started glaring at him angrily - and he made the situation even worse by telling me’Paisa counter pe de do’. I once again announced loudly’I am holding this Rs. 100 note in my hand and walking out - if Reliance wants it, Mr. Ajay, you will have to take it yourself. Once I am out of the webworld, you will loose it!’
The guy just could not gather the nerve to take the money, given the angry mood of all the customers present there. I walked out with the money with me.
So happy about getting even with these cheaters at Reliance Infocom!
