Non RELIANCE

True account - from someone who wanted to take a reliance landphone in chennai.


Around 2nd july- I had called Customer Care (CC), had got details on the phone.Rs. 150 - 1000+ 800 deposit etc. I had -wrongly- got into the Tamil helpline but the guy there was excellent. He promised me that a sales agent/ direct sales person would call me, come over and take this up- in a day or two.


3-4 days passed - no calls. I called Customer Care and the girl says - sorry but our sales guys will NOT come to you. You have to go to the nearest web world. (some confusion here?)


9th july - I called Customer Care again - and the personnel assured me that there was indeed sales agents/ direct sales person; absolutely no need to got to webworld- and assured they would contact me in 2 days.


Again 2-3 days passed - Zero calls. Called Customer Care and again I was told - Sir, we DONT have sales agent/ direct sales persons to. You have to go to the nearest web world. (Confusion- u tell me! )


14th july- By now I am at the end of chasing the Customer Care guys. I walk into your webworld . Gave documents. Was told the address verification would happen in a day or two and I could collect the telephone by Monday (18th) for sure.


15th july- the verification happens. Good. The person - from reliance - tells me that indeed sales agents would come home and take details and no need to got to webworld. (CONFUSION - u bet! )


...anyway,  I tell myslf, its come so far. Surely nothing can go wrong now- was I wrong?


18th july- no calls.


19th july - I call Customer Care and was told- no sir, u have to drop in at the alwarpet webworld and enquire what happened to your application.


Fine,  I said, can I call them- no sir, they don’t have a telephone( CAN U BELIEVE IT?that’s right!). You have to go personally and check.


20th july- no calls


21st july- I get a call- sir, your instrument is ready, u can pick it up.....well, reader, what do u think I told them? ....enough to say that I didn’t feel like picking up the telephone and told them so. And can u


believe they did not even bother to call back- neither has anyone checked.


I am sure there would be excuses like ’ we called you, none picked up the call ’ etc.


These guys sure know how to irritate a customer-in-the-bag and make him take his business elsewhere. At least in future do get facts right- If customer service guys come home, let it be so. If not, let it be so. But for heavens sake let there not be TWO kinds of answers from Customer Care. Train them properly.


Lesson no 2- when the deal is done, CLOSE it fast.


Lastly give a contact no for those who have booked a phone to check status.


Its funny, to be told that the webworld ITSELF cannot be contacted on phone (!!).
