Dont intend to go into more details of this. Just thought of sharing with you all if anyone else has gone through such unique and ridiculous experience than this or not.
I have been having Reliance India Mobile Connection for approx 5 years from now - same number for more than 2.5 years since I shifted cities. Interestingly no one bothered to do address verification - service is on - bill goes to old address! I did not have a problem as I pay over internet and hence couldnt care less about paper bills.
Suddenly after 5 yrs of account(and 2.5 years of the same number) RIM wakes up and bars my outgoing on May 30th. I call up customer service over next 1 week at least 3-4 times, with complaintes being registered. No one wants to tell me why my number is barred. I get 2-3 different versions - 1 - This is only data connection I can not use voice(so what about all those calls I made/received for over 2.5 years - I must been dreaming!) - 2 - This number is meant for Reliance Employees(But you never offered me a job:P) .2 more days of follow up and Customer care closes case saying - I need to visit Reliance WebWOrld to get it resolved - they can not do anything - this is after 3 differentidiots promising me that within 3 hours it would be solved / we ahve escalated to the concerned dept - it should be working fine now!
Switch the scene to reliance webworld - where I went on Friday(1 week after service is gone) - the guy tells meMax 48 hours and it will be activated - this was 3rd deadline I got for 48 hours. Nothing happens then - I go again and now they say - sunday is holiday, come it will be done by tuesday.
Well, cut to today - it has been 11 days and my mobile is not active. This is despite 3-4 complaints on their call center+ 2 visits to webworld.Despite always paying their full amount much before the due date - sometimes amount exceeding the billed amount -
But here are the most interesting parts of conversation:
1 - The reason: I have never been given such a reason - this number is meant only for data services and not for voice / This number is for reliance employees only
2 - When in doubt - blame the servers(Translates toAlways): One common theme that I was given throughout my conversation(3-4 telecalls+ 2 visits to Reliance Webworld) - sir our servers are down and hence I am not able to read your complaints / I am not able to do it now but it will be done in next 48 hours. I have never seen in my life someone covering up for inefficiency such beautifully on technologies. Yeah, they think their customers are idiot and can not see this simple transparent truth
3 - Escalations: Throughout all the calls they have assured me thatthey promptly have escalated the issue to concerned authority and . I think by now - going by the number of escalation of this issue - Anil Ambani must also be aware of it!
4 - Supervisors: Here is a new trick that reliance has put in place for all their incompetent call center employees - Take customer request - if you are not able to solve(which should occur in over 95 out of 100 calls) try and blame the servers - if customer insists on talking to supervisor -disconnect the call - if the customer calls again - some other idiot will handle it again.And if some customer finally manages to speak with supervisor - he will follow the same script
