I have reviewed my review (24/11/2005) !!!!
Ive been a customer with Reliance for over two years now, and found the services and clarity is getting better!
We have gone ahead and taken the corporate connection for all of our employees!
The old review still talks about the DAPO which is not longer offered by them, and they have gone ahead and introduced quite bold plans which other operators are still finding difficult to imitate!
The roaming is excellent as you dont have to pay any roaming charges and rental, you are charged for Incoming/Outgoing at your Home STD rates! (for me it is Rs. 1).
-------------------Here is my old review----------------------------
If you can have a look at the tariff they are offering right now, they are the best!!
Before I start my personal experience, let me clarify I have not been paid by reliance to write something good about them. ;).
After getting dejected by all the Big names in the mobile services, my friends suggested me to try reliance because of their own good experiences. But after listening to many others I was bit afraid.
I went ahead with the outright purchase of the handset so that there would be no recurring monthly charges to be paid. My major interest was the RConnect Services they were offereing.
To my surprise the customer support executive in charge, first inquired about the locality and then after confirming with other people, she told me that I can go for it because network is good in that region (moral - she didnt make any false promise).
She explained me all the mambo jambo of the DAPO (the most famos and the most cursed offer), she DID make me realize that not all calls get charged on 40p basis, its only those calls made to reliance phone anywhere in india which falls under the first 400 calls (hence they are free).
Its a fact that most of the earlier customers are facing the billing problem but the customers enrolled after November are not facing the billing problem, the billing details are available through SMS, RWorld and Internet also. (I agree that they are bit slow in sending the actual physical copy of the bill).
But to be very frank, DAPO offer was good for the people who make STD calls to other reliance phones, they can save a lot with that offer as I am saving.
The new tarriff they are offereing now Joy 399, is a good one as the cost of STD call to any mobile in india is Rs. 1 and to any landline in India is Rs. 2.5, typically suited for a heavy usage.
The RConnect service gave me excellent results as my area falls under the strong network signal and never got speed below 90Kbps.
But my suggestion will be, before going for reliance, make sure that:
You are not a perfectionist (as they still have not so perfect call center support).
You have patience.
Reliance network in your area is good.
Places where you are going for roaming has reliance services.
Instead for waiting for them to send the bill, you check it by yourself on your mobile.
