I took Travel insurance from Reliance for a recent international trip and incurred a very small medical expense(only aorund Rs 7000). I have been taking travel insurance for all my international trips from Reliance and never had made a claim. This time I tried to make a claim for a tiny amount(mainly to find out of its worth taking travel insurance at all) and understood all this insurance thing is a one way money exchange scam(we pay, they dont)
1) None of my emails to the company have been responded to
2) Before making the claim I was able to connect to customer care and after trying to make the claim customer care is always busy and no agent is ever available to service the call.
3) Chat says I have to either contact customer care on phone or via Email.
4) I called Reliance Customer care numbers and emailed them from abroad at the time of emergency and received no response.
If we dont take any insurance while travelling we know that we are taking a risk and will be prepared for it, with Reliance Insurance we get a false sense of security and zero response from the insurer.
Incidents like this reiterate the doubt in minds of common man regarding insurance. I myself have 4 different types of insurances and still doubt if its worth paying the premium each year as there is a very large possibility the money is just going down the drain with the insurance company making some kind of excuse to not pay.
Reliance has gone a step further by simply not responding.
