Video Conferencing is horrible

I am compelled to write my first review on MouthShut on Reliance Webworld after a really painful experience a couple of days ago with their overpriced Video Conferencing service.

I had a really important meeting with a US prospect that was scheduled for 9:30 pm. We booked the slot(9:30 - 10:30) for a price of INR 6600(outrageously expensive by many standards).

I reached at 9:10 am to find that the shutters were half closed. Realized that it was not unusual. The unwelcoming staff ushered us in. As luck would have it, they were booked till 9:30 pm anyway. So, they would start trying to make a connection AFTER 9:30 pm.

They couldn’t connect my laptop, so I couldn’t use a few slides I was planning to use. No problem.

It took 20 minutes to set up the Video conference. The prospect was already tired of trying to make the conference work. Poor video quality. Extremely poor audio quality. Anyway, the conference started.

Within 15 minutes of the conference, the video from my side stopped. The Video conference became an audio conference.

By 10:25 pm, the staff started knocking on the doors distracting me from my meeting. Come on, the meeting started 20 minutes late because of them, right?

By this time, I was feeling sick of the experience. The call ended quickly, I paid INR 6600 for the service and promised to myself that we will get Video Conference in our office OR find another provider - but never return to Reliance Webworld.

Thank you Reliance!

Update 1: Within a week or two of posting this review, Reliance Webworld contacted me. They were very keen to understand my painful experience. Some very senior guys were on the call. After initially feeling that they should read the review and not insisted on my telling the whole story again, I recounted the experience.

They apologized profusely and said that they would make my next session with Reliance Webworld free. And they would contact our office to make it possible. Excellent!

Many months have passed, they never followed up.

Update 2:

Instead of relying on Reliance Webworld, we set up a video conferencing facility in our office. Now, life is much better. However, earlier this week, we did a video conference(conducted an interview for a senior position). The interviewee was in Bangalore and in a Reliance Webworld. I realized once again how bad their service really is. There was no sound coming, line got disconnected three times - it was a really sad experience(a skype/google video chat would have been much better).

Reliance Webworld, you are truly extraordinarily bad!
