Not as bad I thought it would be

I live in Bangalore and took my Reliance connection some time mid November.. Its been close to a month now and so far the connection is doing pretty good. The first few days were a nightmare with several

disconnections. The main problem Reliance needs to solve is their DHCP issues. its quite difficult to get an IP assigned once you start up.

I have herd horror stories about the customer service and tech reps. but in my numerous interactions with them they have all been nice prompt in their call backs and whenever a technician was committed one was sent the very next day.

Turns out that my woes with frequent disconnects was caused by faulty crimping in the antenna cable leading to my PoE Adapter. After I got it re-crimped things have been quite alright. The DHCP issues still persist but a restart and a little patience gets me an IP within range quite quickly

one thing that helps most of the time is a quick TCP/IP reset a restart and a renew.

Reliance has to fix their issues with the DHCP, till then the reliability of their connection is always going to suck big time.

I believe things have changed for the positive over the last few months (based on other user reviews and my own experience) however they have a long way to go. hopefully things will be all set by March 2008 when the plan to come out of testing and officially launch!

I’m on the 600Kbps plan and its blazing fast. The downloads are super fast and I can browse comfortably at the same time. The only real issue I faced was configuring my security package (Kaspersky) to stop blocking traffic and slowing things down.

If any one needs any help please don’t hesitate to contact me for help.... I can try and help you out.

Here’s to hoping for improvement in the next few months!
