The request for the review on RBI could not have come on a better day. Today only I was reading that the RBI, led by the Governer, is encouraging its employees to come upto the contemprary practices and skills.
AS for the working culture, I believe that the mindset continues to be bureacratic and laid back. The Bank can boast of one of the best talents around at all levels. Yet the efficiency levels leave a lot to be desired -- especially if you are trying to get soiled notes exchanged or getting smaller denominations.
The other problem is at a professional level which I would prefer not to deal here.
And while I am writing about RBI, I cannot help but mentioning this. I was actually surprised to read that Bimal Jalan goes to work in chappals and bushirt -- I strongly believe that being presentable is very important whereever one is in the workplace and more so at such levels. I have the opportunity to read a few of his books and articles and have learnt a lot from his reviews. But this one has not gone well with me -- the RBI and its staff would do better to get dressed better. May not be a tie culture but at least be in a formal attire including shoes.
The image needs a redo -- needs to be modern and an organisation which command respect at the mere mention to all the Indians.
