Theres a universal belief of light being good and dark being bad. that seems expected because I would think one feels better if one can see his surroundings and dark places are generally scary. but then extrapolating that to skin color is something of a mystery to me...though centuries of british rule might have something to do with it.
though not indian...i was born in india and am of east-asian origin - also with very fair skin. while growing up we were definitely given preferential treatment whereever we went...my younger sister who was around 8-9 at that time also had very fair skin and actually kinda cute also. the indian girls/women would go crazy over her..touching her soft skin etc. I was around 13 at that time and even then I knew there was something amiss there.
you know discussing skin color is so stupid...if it wasnt for the fact that so many people take it seriously and I have nothing better to do at this time.
