Lipstick on your collar told a tale on you
Lipstick on your collar said you were untrue
Bet your bottom dollar you and I are through
Cause lipstick on your collar told a tale on you!
No chance of this happening in today’s kiss proof lipstick days!
Today the cheating lover, the busy woman with no time to touch up her make-up, and the party goer reluctant to leave a lipstick trail behind on painted cheeks and pretty napkins can all give thanks to kiss proof lipstick, and do what they have to, without worrying about colour coming off.
Who makes it
Revlon, amongst others. If you want a hardworking product that won’t break your bank, try Revlon’s Colourstay Overtime Lipcolour
What it is
Liquid lip colour in one end of a slim transparent tube, with clear gloss on the other. Each has its own applicator.
How to use it
Mistakes cant be wiped away easily, so keep pesky children away when applying. Apply the colour sparingly, and wait till it dries completely. (Don’t let anybody catch you standing in front of the mirror with your mouth open though, you’ll never hear the end of it!)
Apply the clear gloss for shine. Without it, the look is scarily matte – kiss-proof effect guaranteed!
Use an oil based remover to wipe it off.
What it promises
All day kiss-proof colour and shine with no need to touch up, even after a meal.
What it actually does
Regardless of the tall claims floating around, I’m quite sure the only kissing the manufacturer had in mind when making this product, was chaste pecks on the cheek. Sure it stays on even when subjected to a bit of passion, but it leaves behind an ugly stain reminiscent of the cheap lipsticks used in school plays- Not desirable at all!
The good
The colour sees you through busy days when you have neither the time nor inclination to fix your face. However, the shine disappears rapidly, and it gets cakey by the end of the day.
It’s not a bad party product – if you don’t mind taking time off every so often to touch up on the shine.
The bad
The lipstick leaves your lips dry; be prepared to pamper your kissers with balm to get them soft again.
Since this lip colour comes with quite a bit of tenacity and staying power, it needs an oil-based make-up remover and a good bit of scrubbing to get off. This in turn can leave your lips feeling sore.
What to watch out for
Tempted to kiss? Use your discretion - oily food can cause trouble. A friend was left with a lippy mark on his face after his lunch companion kissed him goodbye. The blessed thing wouldn’t come off – it left a stain that even soap and water couldn’t budge. They had to make a trip to the nearest pharmacy for some baby oil, to wipe it off. He wasn’t amused at all!
Who this is for
For men who don’t want lipstick on their collars, to give to the women who could put that lipstick on those collars.
For women when they want a lip-colour that won’t fuss about long working hours, and a bit of use and abuse.
So should you buy it?
Yes, if you want a product that sees you through a quick kiss, the average workday, party, and a not too greasy meal.
Kiss-proof does sound so much better than pizza-proof, doesn’t it!
