Did I forget to mention in the title that you need to carry a bag of money or at least your high credit limit credit card?! Anyways, for all the romantic fools like me who don’t care too much about how much they pay once they have decided to have a good time – this is a fantastic place.
The ambience is that of cool, understated luxury. Its high ceiling makes it a little less cozy than I would have liked. But I love the fact that the tables are well spaced out and one can’t overhear what the neighbours are saying. My favourite corner is close to their crooked cone shaped, crystal like blue lights. This very alluring corner makes me feel like I’m sailing! During a recent visit with a friend there were kites suspended from the ceiling – I found that a bit out-of-season and weird. But mercifully the ceiling is high and one does not look up too often.
The service is excellent. The waiters are polite and offer delightful value additions to your meal. They are also very discreet – you never realize when they have refilled your wine glass or when they have removed a messy plate. (Or was I too drunk?).
The food is absolutely delicious. My favourite is their wood fire oven pizza. So light, so fresh and leaves an explosion of herbs in your mouth. My friend had their kebab platter – but did not rank it very high.
Incidentally they have an elaborate South Indian lunch buffet that all other guests were digging into with gusto. I felt that I would not be able to do justice to the excess of food – so I opted for my favourite light bite. There is a different themed buffet each day of the week.
I spent 5 hours there one afternoon with a dear friend just talking, drinking and eating. I have many happy memories associated with that visit and I’m glad I chose Marriot as the venue. Recommended for those who are crazy and romantic enough to pay for this feel good factor!
