I recently visited Rishyap, a small hill station in the Indian state of Sikkim. I was expecting a beautiful, peaceful and thrilling experience, but what I got instead was a complete disappointment.
The town was in a very poor condition. The roads were bumpy and filled with potholes, and the streetlights were non-existent. The houses were all in disrepair, and the people living there seemed to be living in poverty. The markets were filled with nothing but junk and substandard items, and the prices were exorbitant.
The accommodation we got was beyond horrible. The room was filthy and the bedding was full of stains. The bathroom was even worse, with no running water, and the toilet was a mess. We had to literally beg the staff to clean it up.
The food served was also of very poor quality. We had to eat food that was stale and had a bad smell. The service was extremely slow, and the staff was unhelpful and uncooperative.
The activities we planned to do were also a big let down. The trekking trails were all in a bad condition, and the views from the top were not worth the effort. The river rafting was not good.
