I saw the movie Roadside Romeo today morning. I must say ... i made me pleasently surprised in some areas.
PLOT:
Romeo (saif) a pampered hi society dog finds himself on the streets once his owners leave for London. He makes friends, wins over his enemies, reclaims the love of his girl friend & owns a salon along the way.
CAST:
This has to be my favorite part to write about as the voice overs by some of the artistes are really good.
Javed Jaffri as Charlie Anna - is the best voice over... At times I could never think of charlie anna as a separate entity from Javed Jaffri. His south indian voice over was too good and will have many of us in splits.
Sanjai Mishra as Chainu - the designated spoon of charlie anna plays the north indian tobacco spitting charecter to perfection
Kiku Sharda as Hero English - He gets this mention because he got to literally translate lines in english. Try thinking Hair Hair Saved Gone a very popular hindi proverb
Vrajesh Hirjee as Guru - The timid leader of the pack (when charlie anna isnt around)
Suresh Menon as Interval - gets to display his hillarious mimicry skills of famous movie personalities.
Tanaz Irani as Mini - the only cat in the pack who likes to identify herself as a dog (Bhailog)
My favorite parts:
This is the first time I got to see the Mumbai landscape very convincingly shown with its chawls, mills, train tracks and unused water pipes.
The municipality vehicle (Dog Van) shown as a threat bigger than the meanest dog which many will believe
Charlie Annas introduction of himself and his angels angels
Silk Sunitha, Nylon Nalini & Polyester Padhmini had everyone laughing at the theatre.
The scene where SP Balasubramaniams song from the movie Ek DUje keliye is played on Charlies 1st date.
The many references to indian movies and Indian actors is hillarious..especially the movies from yash raj films like dhoom & DDLJ
Full marks to Jugal Hansraj the director to induce the local flavour in this movie..This is one movie where the audience waited for the end credits to finish rolling as it had some candid footage.
It is a movie thats going to be a favorite with your kids and will definitely cheer you up so please watch it.
