As a Telugu cinema fan, I was looking forward to the release of Robinhood, particularly after its trailer-release and the hype about its contemporary take on the age-old Robin Hood. Venky Kudumula directed the movie with Nithiin and Sreeleela in the lead. Robinhood had the offers a blend of action, comedy, and romance. The idea of a master thief turned protector was new and thrilling. Throw in the excellent supporting cast, such as Vennela Kishore and Rajendra Prasad, and a cameo appearance by Australian cricketer David Warner, and my expectations were through the roof. Today I finally had the chance to see Robinhood on the big screen.
The Plot:
The plot is about Ram(Nithiin), a professional thief who works with finesse and precision. His life takes an unexpected turn as he has to become the bodyguard of Neera Vasudev(Sreeleela), the heiress of a millionaire businessman. A job gradually becomes a mission when Ram finds something sinister about Neeras family and resolves to save her from coming dangers. The story efficiently weaves in humor, suspense, and action. The first half is filled with light moments, the second half takes a turn with high-octane action scenes and emotional depth, culminating in a thrilling climax.
The Performances:
Nithiin gives one of his most stylish performances to date. As Ram/Robinhood, he moves effortlessly between being a smart thief and a fierce protector. His performance is charismatic throughout the movie. Sreeleela excels as Neera, adding elegance and vulnerability to her character. Her chemistry with Nithiin is natural and interesting. She handles her emotional scenes well and brings depth to their romantic track. Vennela Kishore is the show-stealer in the comedy part with his impeccable timing, and Rajendra Prasad brings gravity for the supporting characters. David Warners cameo is short, but entertaining.
Standout Elements:
Venky Kudumulas direction is crisp and interesting. He maintains a steady pace while juggling humor, action, and emotion. I admired how he contemporary-ized the concept of Robin Hood. Action is what Telugu cinemas are all about, and Robinhood delivers. Moreover, the music by G.V. Prakash Kumar does much to support dramatic moments in the movie. The songs are well-crafted—particularly Adhi Dha Surprisu. Everyone in the audience adored that song. If you think this film is non-stop action, worry not. One of the best things about Robinhood is its humor. Vennela Kishores lines are too funny, and the first half is a thoroughly entertaining ride. Overall, it was a well-timed, reflective film.
Should You Watch It?
If you like action-comedies with a dash of romance and suspense, Robinhood is a must-watch. It gives a clean, wholesome cinematic experience with good performances, witty writing, and plenty of entertainment value. Although it will not set anything new in storyline and narrative, the acting is wonderful and overall, its a good movie. Yes, it does turn predictable later on, but youre going to keep enjoying the remaining film. I love Nithiin and enjoyed my time out.
