Arjun Rampal is back to Bollywood after small gap and we are super excited. His upcoming film, Kahaani 2 – Durga Rani Singh opposite Vidya Balan, looks intriguing and we can’t wait to see it. He is also excited about his next release, but he is heartbroken about what happened with Rock On 2. For those of you who don’t know, the sequel to the 2008 hit film Rock On released on November 11 this year. Shraddha Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar’s movie released only 3 days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes would no longer be accepted. It was known that this demonetisation step would affect Rock On 2. The makers even wanted to change the release date of the film, but they could not! As Arjun reveals to Filmfare, “Rock On 2 for me is a good film. We had a great time making it. We also saw it together with family and they all enjoyed it so we got passed that. Unfortunately we couldn’t make a decision on how audiences liked it since the public didn’t go ( to see the film) because of the situation. It has really hit the whole industry, not just Rock On 2. It’s been extremely unfortunate in terms of timing. The news came on Wednesday and we did try to withdraw and change the release date but prints were already out there. Also, TV overseas if you try to change the date then piracy would have happened, so it was a situation where we didn’t know what the hell to do. We took a shot and we said ok, the best thing to do is go ahead with the release. We didn’t know it will affect us so badly.”
