Bollywoods truly coming of age. As one press review said, reality can also be entertaining and Rock On proves it.
This movie wasnt on our radar at all. A chance landing up at a mall and noticing that this was the only movie that suited our schedule, we bought the tickets. The next 3 hours were pure Magick!
Ill not give you the plot as this has already been discussed in most of the other threads. The movie starts off on a rocking note and(almost) maintains that till the very end. The story isnt really the most innovative nor is the acting Oscar-worthy(or even Filmfare-worthy). But the entire package, not fogetting the music, is GOLD. You can feel the concert atmosphere whenever the band performs "live" in the movie. Unless you give yourself a reality check by looking around at the seated theater audience, you are most likely on your feet.
And, I was blown away by the powerhouse of talent that is Farhan Akhtar. We thought he could make great movies. He also acts. And he sings too well. Hats off!
The music holds the movie together. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy come up with a soundtrack that stays true to the spirit of the movie.
Next day, loyal to the great movies ending message, I tried to buy a copy of the soundtrack. And there were none available in the 5 top-end music stores I visited. I guess I wasnt the only one converted:)
