*- Rocket Singh - Laidback & Effortless -*

Once in a while, some movies are made out of just a noble intention.. Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year is one such movie.. Delightfully refreshing, and even though less publicized, and commercially less appealing, this movie is just an honest try at making decent Cinema.. at which it rightfully succeeds..

I was initially skeptical about watching this, but with much appreciations flying around about it, I gave it a try.. And the simplicity of the movie stands out!

You could complain about it not having many "Hero-Heroine-Ring-a-Ring-a-Roses" going on, or a Melodramatic romance angle not included, or even about it being long or lacking Masala! When the romance blossoms between the Hero-Heoine, you would be missing an otherwise obvious romantic duet, but thats the beauty of it.. you wont be missing it... Its one movie you would love to watch, with a light head...

Plot - Harpreet Singh Bedi, is a regular Commerce graduate, who fails to launch himself as a brainiac, and falls short of a decent passing average in college.. After much thoughts and dilemma, he finalizes Sales as his professional path... But, when the real world of Business and corruption surrounds him, he falls prey to humiliation and social disgrace.. How an average guy, with only his honesty and simplicity to guide him, ends up living his dream.. is the story all about..

Performances - The movie in entirety belongs to Ranbir Kapoor, but is very nicely supported by a bunch of brilliant performances.. Gauhar Khan, Mukesh Bhatt, Shezan padamsee all are brilliant in their roles..

Ranbir Kapoor has grown as an actor, and is able to carry the film effortlessly on his shoulders..

Some Scenes worth mentioning-

The one where Chotelal Mishra threatens the sales manager.

The scene where Harpreet is embarrassed at the signal of his new gift from his dad, when a brand new Karizma shows up..

The scene where Harpreet goes to the shop to inquire about computer parts and is offered to buy the table fan...

Light hearted moments, which are genuinely soothing and funny, without being able to reinvent already heard or vulgur jokes, would be one of the plus points of the movie.

The direction was simple yet appealing. The screenplay and dialogues were soothing, and unlike many others, this one was able to churn out funny moments out of simpler things.. witty yet not too outright and contemporary...

Overall - an immensely watchable and sensible movie to invest your money in.

3.5 stars, A must watch.
