Karan Johar’s RARKPK is an complete family entertainer with drama, emotion, colourful sets, multi cast , lovely locations , good music & mind-blowing performance from every actor, especially Ranbir Singh and Alia Bhatt with a great message that keeps the audience thoroughly engaged.
To begin with, Rocky ( Ranveer Singh) and Rani ( Alia Bhatt) fall in love & try to bring their families together and overcome their cultural differences. The plot of the reunion gets a twist with the introduction of a family swap. How Rocky & Rani help their parents in getting over the cultural prejudices forms the rest of the story.
Ranveer and Alia are in supreme form. Their chemistry is sizzling .The two most talented actors of their generation, bind the film together almost effortlessly. Ranveer is very energetic throughout the film living the character, that’s very close to his real self. Alia Bhatt is the soul of the movie and she aces the role with flying colors.
Dharmendra & Shabana Azmi brings about the laughter moments, whereas Jaya Bachchan makes her presence felt. The other supporting cast Aamir Bashir, Kshitee Jog, Anjali Anand, Namit Das, Churni Ganguly, Tota Roy Choudhary, and Abhinav Sharma among others do well in their respective roles.
The movie successfully delivers genuine humor, with some funny dialogues to lift the atmosphere whenever the pace dips. The film’s highlights is the commendable chemistry between the lead characters and the use of old classics in the narrative is skillfully executed. The focus on feminism is commendable.
Karan Johar’s return to direction after seven years since Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. He redesigns his signature space of family drama where on can learn to live with each other’s imperfections.
