Rocky The Rebel, directed by Suresh Krishna is a typical potboiler which lays emphasis on blood, violence and oudated script.
The film revolves around Rocky who hates injustice in any form and when he sees injustice being done to anyone he loses his temper and always seems to get in way over his head. Rocky is hurt when he experiences injustice first-hand but he decides to fight this injustice and the system responsible for this. He loses his beloved [Esha Sharwani] and decides to avenge the death of his beloved by personally seeing to it that justice is meted out to her killers.
The problem with Rocky is its predictable storyline, which is an amalgamation of several Bollywood movies witnessed in the recent past. In fact, Zayeds characterisation is quite similar to the one essayed by likes of Sunny Deol , Akshay Kumar , Sunil Shetty in the 90s.
The script of this film abounds in predictability, with action /songs incorporated in generous doses. To be honest there is not even a single scene that remains in your memory after the movie is over.
Besides the outdated script, the music by Himesh Reshammiya is equally uninspiring. The tunes are oft-repeated and even the placement of songs is improper. At least two numbers can easily be deleted since they obstruct the unfolding of the drama. The only number that stands out is junoon junoon.
The only scoring point is the fight between Rajaat Bedi and Zayed Khan in the climax which is simply pulsating and vibrant.
Zayed sheds his inhibitions and handles the action scenes with elan. Though the performance is not great, it is sure to benefit Zayed since he hardly left any impression in his earlier flicks.
Esha Sharwani needs to polish her acting skills as well as concentrate on her overall appearance. Performance-wise, she is plain mediocre. Minisha Lamba does a fine job.Rajat Bedi hams to the hilt. others are passable.
On the whole, Rocky is saddled by a weak script and will not find many takers. Watch it only if youre a die-hard Zayed Khan fan!
