The beat-the-heat Elixir

It’s just not a drink, it’s a coolant and it’s  truly refreshing .the fact that hamdard dawakhAnasultan have included multitude of refreshing and nourishing herbs and fruits is  the reason why its truly an elixir .

It was formulated more than 100 years ago by a hakim in pakistan . It’s a concoction of fruit / veggie  juices like orange, pineapple, carrot, lemon, herbs like dhania, pudina and khas and some flowers like rose petals and much more .

The only thing I do not like is  though it’s so natural a lot of nature and  nature identical flavourings  have been used apart from permitted food  colors, acidity regulators and class 2 preservatives thus rendering it a highly processed drink, along with the inclusion of invert syrup which is sweeter than sugar @87% . This  though ensures  that you do not need to use any sugar .

I’m waiting for  the day hamdard replace the  invert syrup with either honey or jaggery or stevia .  Sugar is also a preservative and is probably why this 750ml drink bottle has a shelf  life of  2  years . Without getting too technical invert syrup is almost the same as sugar with 1 technical difference .

Since when you drink it, use it occasionally and moderately as it break the no 1  eating safety rule of  not consuming your liquid calories . The use of sugar(or invert syrup) isn’t a healthy option, I wish that we can turn back to brown sugar also called molasses sugar  which has many traces of vitamins and minerals and is  not subject to the harmful refining process . Hamdard can even consider mango, grapes or dates puree to sweeten the drink up . Many premium jams I know sold abroad use  apple or grapes puree to sweeten them  instead of sugar or invert syrup .

use it especially  when you suffer from fever or any stomach disorder like diarrhea, vomiting and tummy ache . Its also advised during fevers and sun strokes .

Of course  it can be had otherwise as well . It best blends with some lime or lemon juice along with mint leaves and tastes best with both water, milk and even soda .
