WELCOME to the oldest seat of technical education and the youngest IIT - IIT Roorkee...
This is a place which has (or is it goin’ to?????) shaped my future... n of many a guys... I mean a place that has been constantly churning out top bracket engineers for more than 150 years cannot be bad... (at any cost)....
IITR as I know (i know it now for 3 full years!!!) is a brilliant blend of peace and blast.... Actually u see everyone used to tell me that college is the best time one has in life (Thinkin’ in many ways like when else would my parents shelled out so much money on me just for me to get drunk everynight?????)... n now one knows why...
Independence is the best synonym for IITR... Though our curriculum is pretty hectic there’s always the fun part.... (those bunkin’ classes... and later saving our asses in front of the profs.. that sittin’ out at ALPAHAR... ya woh Nescafe ka dinner... Woh raat ki parties @ URU or POL.... Woh pandrah logon ka ek saath tute topna.... raat ko woh nahar ke kinaare baithna......) Well you see I could go on and on.....
This place is total nostalgia with everyone around would only find it best to perfect stories from their past.... And to think of it everyone jus keeps talkin out here........(Bakar as we know it!!!!)... Anythin under the sun is possible in this place.... where else might u hear KHNH and Floyd in a single place.....
If one would ask us to point out the best thing on campus.... an immediate reply would be ’’Bhawan.... yaar .... Sone mein jo mazaa hai na aur kahaan?????’’ .... yeah u see actually there are only 24 hours in a day and to do so much we have to sacrifice on our sleep..... the most common event that happens around the campus is something we term NIGHT-OUT (and no no oil is required...... ;-) ).... Come semester and this place is deserted and totally worn out....... like these days..... no one seems to be around...... where have they gone??????? died..... hey come on yaar ab to padh le...!!!!!
As a city (or I would rather call it a town)? Roorkee has nothing great to offer?. But u see I still remember the list of places where they told me that my phone would work in local zone? I hardly remember any place which is not a hot tourist destination?!!! I never knew this part of India had so much on offer when it came to tourism?. Some places which are really accessible are Hardiwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun, Mussorie, Nainital, Ranikhet, Almora, Jeolikhot, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Auli?
Comin back to campus? Paradise on earth is all that I can say about this really beautiful campus? The main building gardens? The dome? the departments? some really quality teachers? This place easily boasts of the best civil, earthquake, Water research, Building research departments in the country?
It jus so happened that this once jewel in the crown of UP became an object of neglect in the eyes of the state government and lost some of its old glory? n thanks to the center takin over this college? this place has now started returning to shining status? n yeah with all surety we will soon be the best in the country?
Well u see I can keep writing on and on?. Jus that I ve got a quiz in about two hours time?!!!!!! If you ever visit this great campus feel free to step into any group of students hangin out and doin bakar? They will easily guide you to the real glory of this great college? n yeah those of u who will just write the JEE make sure you do keep a strong preference for this college (Sahi keh raha hoon? khaane ko alag kar? pachtayega nahin!!!!!!!! Senior ki advice kabhi kabhi maan leni chahiye?)?. Besties to u?!!!
