I booked my Desert Storm 500 in April 2012 and got it in August after nearly 4.5 months of wait and believe me it seemed like a year. The motorcycle gives you a tremendous street presence and the pulling power it has makes you feel like the king of any terrain, the rugged war era look enhances the overall charm of it and you feel like you are going out to gun out a few Nazis.:) Anyways I have run it for 13000 kms so far and I am enjoying every moment with it, now my weekend plan includes washing it early in the morning, so that my iron horse feels great the entire weekend.
The only downside Id say is the front seat(provided with the bike) is a little uncomfortable on long rides, so one needs a proper cushioning cover/ a change of seats, anyways you have a lot of people around like Khajanchi and the entire Karol Bagh market to fix than and worry about it, so no issues.
Id like to comment over a few people who are buying an RE these days and vomiting rubbish all around.
Fuel efficiency is low: Why didnt you get yourself a Bajaj Platina?
Paint Quality is bad: Okay accepted but there are way too many positives to love it, I take that as a plus in rugged appearance, just like my torn denim, its fine to have paint job ripped here and there:P
Sharp Corners: Why didnt you get yourself a duke fucker? if that was your priority
After 2-3k kms bike started throwing out smoke: There is something known as servicing and changing engine oil ever heard of it? you need to take care of it.
In bullet there is NOTHING in terms of technology: Yes dude there is nothing and thats why its not for you, have just ordered a new speedo for you guys that pops up "READY TO RACE" whenever you turn the engine on hahaha. Ever heard of EFI or ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION system that your pulsar wont have, it really pisses me off why is RE selling its beauty to people like this.
I believe there should be a proper check of the customer that the company is selling to, else these idiots are going to go here and there. Anyways I believe they dont even matter.for all the riders out there.
Happy Riding:)
