She is my fourth RE.
I have had her for 1.5 yrs or so now and now that I have, I think I can say a little about it.
Most of the reviews I have gone across keep yappin about the spec sheets and how cool the bike is and bla bla bla.
mine on the other hand is all about the ownership and its issues.
the bike is no doubt much better than the LB I had some time ago.
the engine is a bit smoother but still has the tippet noise which is very annoying. balance of the bike is much better since the seats allow a bit of movement so a short fella like me can accommodate his tush well and plan his feet well in the ground when needed.
the Constructionguru30 of the bike is again classic RE blunder in some places
like for example the indicator lights are not aligned properly at the rear and if you try to loosen the nuts and get them fixed you wont be able to since they have a pin type assemble which does not allow any movement or adjustment.
the engine gasket on the braking side rear was coming out when I checked it upon bringing her home for the first time, later after proper examination I realized it is ok to cut if off.
the rear brakes could be made more better I use them very sparingly and do most of my braking with the front disks which do decent justice at high speeds of 100 plus. the rear helps just a bit to assure.
the drive chain of the bike before was covered completely and was very easy to clean and looked nice but now they have done away with the old school thing and give it a plastic cover which just covers the top rear mid part of the chain.
that make this lousy is that when you take your bike for service they use this canned product called a chain cleanser and it releases all the gue from the chain. once you head home the chain spits all the muck on the rims and you have to wash the bike all over again.
the gears are very smooth and you can speedshift very easily without messing your ride but the sad part the bike yearns to go more but since there are only 5 gears it feels left behind after 120 kmph or more(if you can mAnasultange/ dare). maybe they can do something with the ratios I dont know but I am sure she can go much faster and achieve higher speeds.
I had a it of an issue with the engine a few months back in which would misfire and stall for no reason.
my service lad told me it the fuel, but I always but for my trusted gas station in a can let the petrol settle and then pour into the tank using a muslin cloth to avoid any particulates I take her to the gas station only for air.
later I went on you tube and found the issue to be a small sensor on top of the air intake of the engine. I removed it cleaned it with a good dose of WD40 and now shes is fine.
after you wash her use a leaf blower to remove all the extra water which gets stuck in crevices and small places she rusts very fast. polishing cleaning will keep her smilling.and make you a head turner, she still does, I guess I should start to charge foreigners for taking pics. they wont go to the showroom(which is 2 shops away) but instead look and admire her out side my shop.
the black oval utility is another trouble some item to deal with the locking mechanism is very irritating at times it need a lot of patience something I dont have a lot of, after you open and try to remove the cover it feles like it still locked so I turn the key again and it gets locked again, the after unlocking if I yank on the cover the, washer on the top(inside) sometimes will flyaway and if god help you finding it in the dark on the highway.;)
the fuse box has been well organised and things look in place( they werent I had to place the fuse clips into the rubber loop myself after first inspection)
get confusing at time when you blow a fuse, when you dont know which one is which since they have added two spare fuse along with the active fuses, why is it confusing because when you pull the fused out all of them have metal connectors at the bottom making you ting they are alive.
the legend pasted on the cover( inside) of the lid make sense only if you are holding the fuse clip properly( or watching) I cant make out which end is which.( hey I aint an engineer)
the over all bikes look very nice once you remove the rear seat but it does get getting used to since your seat doesnt have any support from the rear and make you go back if you move fast suddenly
the rims are nice old skool spokes, I woul love of they had tubeless tyres but they are difficult on spokes, so I filled my tubes with puncture sealant liquid for just in case, I really dont want to push her shes and elephant. heheh if you compare it with daily commuting bikes.
the tank shape and feel are very nice and the pads give you good grip over the turns and feel good. I personally have never tried to find out how much she drinks but it would not harm those monkeys at RE to install a fuel gauge, they can easily install a "sight gauge" if they dont have space for the conventional "in the tank gauges" the shaving the bike and using the wooden ruler thing is very .
and I guess one more thing this bike tends to fall apart pretty fast I ride her about twice a week on a day I do about 60km up and down. I get traffic most of the time in which she behaves well the clutch is soft and doesnt p@#s you off too much, so I was talking about fallin apart.
I get almost 10 minutes at night to take her up to 3 digits, but I didnt realise the nuts and bolts on her were not meant to last who ever said "built like a gun"
last time I lost my fuse box lock assembly on the road somewhere
next I lost the nut under the engine which holds her
heart with the chassis.
my advice keep checking up on those nuts and bolts we wanna be safe and ride safe.
one thing good they have RSA(roadside assistance) now but I really dont want to try them they charge you 800 per year hope they live up to their promise.
RE(Mr. LAL) really needs to give up his/ their ego about being the oldest manufacturer of these bikes and face todays world where we need proper service and attention to detail, service station are many bit service provide is mainly shitty in most of the places I have gone to, Okhla one is nice and I ride her all the way from gurgaon to get her done well.
for all those folks who believe that proper maintenance will give you a trouble free bike .think again if the product itself is not upto the mark when its born just forget about it, with an RE trouble is bound to find you sooner or later
I have ridden her for almost 5000k now and I take extremely good care of her till date she looks much better than the bike in the showroom. hope she stays that way.
hope you found this review not a waste of your time.
in all honesty I love her and with all her issues ill will still take her to my grave
god bless
ride safe and dont be a hero!
unless ure buliteer man
hahahahahha
cheers
