Its been 2 and half years since I bought the Interceptor home. Since there are a ton of reviews out there, let me keep this short and sweet.
Joys - The Engine and that torque. The clean looks. The gentle exhaust rumble. And the availability of accessories from RE and 3rd party.
Headaches - Suspension, especially the front(just like ache din) The seat. The headlight( RE has this habit of taking a few steps forward and then cut their legs off, throw them back into the past) and the God awful electronics. And finally tube tyres.
Crocin for headaches -
1 - Front Suspension - Bought Marsh Auto(Gujarat) Suspension Adjustors - has helped a lot. Stiff but no more clunking everytime I hit a paper pin on the road.
2 - Seat - Got it customized from Rao Seats - Shivaji Nagar Bangalore. Expensive but much much better than stock which is like a door mat.
3 - Headlight - Replaced the halogen with Cyclops Ultra HD LED. I can now see dead people.you can also check out Vaishnu Headlights.
4 - Handle bar raisers from Carbon Racing. Much better seating posture. Cables have to be re-routed.
5 - Replaced all 4 replays with Denso Relays. Expensive but much better quality than stock relays.
6 - Schorl(Pune) Air filter - Mileage is 25 kms per liter on the highway. Average speeds are around 90 kms per hour.
7 - Replaced stock spoke wheels with original RE alloys. Had to get new tyres as the spoke wheel tyres are for tube tyres only.
8 - Prospec Clutch cable set up - Smooth to operate, up shifts are light but downshits can get a bit tight. From what I heard from other mechanics, its hard to get the setting right. But not a deal breaker.
9 - Due to upswept silencers, I bought Saddle Stays from Old School Customs Panvel. Better than Zana on any given day and ride.
Luggage is from Invictus Pune. Have used Rynox bags in the past. Pathetic. Invictus is far better.
I have not done anything more. I am looking at Iridium spark plugs and Versrah brake pads. Thats about it. I am happy with the power and touring capability.
So if you need an affordable but powerful motorcycle for highway touring and cover between 700 to 1000 kms a day, the Inty will do the job. And since its an RE - ensure the service is always on time. Will not recommend for the city. The Inty loves the open road and speeds at 100 km per hour is the sweet spot.
