Last week I called royal sudaram customer service. I wanted to buy insurance for my home. They took my call and told that someone will call me back. I got a call later in the day from a lady who explained me abt the policy. She told me that they have earth quake cover...blah blah. When it came to cover from terrorism, she said that they have terror cover as well.
At that time, I told her that your website does not mention about cover from terrorism. Also, I checked the the policy terms and conditions and it clearly says that insurance will not be given against terror activities which is totally different from military war. Suddenly her tone changed, and she started talking as if she was doing some favor to me.... "we have terror cover...." She said she can give in writing. I asked that whats the use of that.. Your policy terms and conditions document should reflect the change else you will never entertain my claim.
Later she says that the terms and conditions document also has it. WHen I asked to send the policy terms document, she said that the document cannot be shared. I said "What? IF thousands of people can access your document online, why cant u send it to me?" ... and then the argument started. She didnt send me the document and I asked her to shutup and hang up the phone.
Folks:
Read the sundaram policy document here- https://royalsundaram.in/home-shield/home-insurance-policy-terms.aspx
If the policy document is not avaiable to you, ask for a copy and read it before you buy the policy.
I was surprised that if new customers are handled this way, what will happen when you actually claim for some damage???? I have also put a written complaint to sundaram from their website. Lets see what happens... but for sure I am not buying their policy.
