Best rooftop in the city!

We have always had an exprience, where we get the urge to give 0 rating to a outlet which was beyond horrible. While on the other hand, some fortunate times we also have a super amazing exprience, and wish to show our gratitude to the restaurant my giving them 10/5! And my time at rude lounge was one of the best expriences.

Sorry Rude lounge, but you will gave to settle for a 5 rating, I sinceriely wish I could rate rate you 10 on 5!

The place is phenominal! Located in the paush locality of Hiranandai Powai, its a all-in-one lounge. With the scenic beauty of Powai lake and surroundings on one side, while surrounded by lush green mountains on the other, it gives you a feeling of being close to nature, in a city like ours.I say its an all-in-one lounge, because you can come here and have an amazing romantic date by the lake side view. Come with your buddy gang and havw a great time, while enjoying some good beer, or come with your entire family! There’s something for everyone. I really appriciate the fact that they have included North Indian cusine in their menu, for the elderlies whose meal isnt complete without having Roti and sabji. So in that sence, isnt it a all-in-one wonder! ?

The ambiance is super cool! Colourfully vibrant furniture, rocking music running in the background. A wall full of photo frames of hollywood celebrities and a old fashioned wodden plane. This is what I call crazy good!

I also loved the fact that their washrooms literally have their walls filled with posters with ’Dont drink and drive’, ’Smoking kills’ and other related stuff. Also, the lights in the dinkng area, near the lake view side, have helmets as a decorative item over them, but I interpreted it as a saftey message they are trying to send to the society.

The place is huge, and it might have around 80 90 tables, and still if you are planning to come here after 9, then expect a little waiting. On the lake view side, they have arranged tables in such a fashion that there are tables for couples, for small groups of  5-6 and couple of  big square tables for larger groups as well.

I visited the place at 5 in the evening. I am sure that anyone would ask that who visits a lounge at 5pm, but I purposefully chose this time. When I came in here, most od the tables were vacant( as you would be able to see in the pictures) and the light was good too. The pictures of the ambiance and the food were amazing in this soft golden hour period. And as the sun went down, the music volume went up. The lights were on and the place got a more pub vibes. Crazy loud music, colourful lights and stuff. Though I was unable to take good food pictures at this time, the vibes were amazing. The temprature cooled down, and the soft evening breeze, while sipping your breezer and talking to a loved one is an amazing feeling!

One more thing I would like to mention about the ambiance, before I move on the the delicious food, is the architecture of the place. The building is strategically bulit so that the even during  heavy rains you wont get wet sitting at the corner, lake view seats. Thats a really good thing, as no one would appriciate rainwater falling on them and their food.

Their service is top class as well. I person who waited our table, Mr.Chandrakant, was always just a call away. He happily explained me about all the dishes, and took care of thr hospitality warmly. I also had a word with the manager Mr.Mistry, and Mr.Fabio, and it was great having a good converstion with them.

Now FINALLY coming to the main topic, and what most of you might be waiting for, THE FOOD!

Starting of with some amazing starters we had,

PANNER CHEESE PANI PURI-

What I loved about this is tha fact that they didnt complicate the dish, keeping it simple and sweet. Instead of the regular potato, boondi and some pulses filling, they smiply replaced it with soft panner cubes, some cheese and bit of coriander and sev for garnishing. The meetha and theekha chutney were truly lip smacking. I faced a bit of trouble while clicking the pictures though, but thr overall product was YUMMY!

CHICKEN ANGAARA-

A hefty quanity of spicy looking chicken peices, lighted on fire. The fire wentoit before I could click it : -( The presentation was good, a papad roll on the side, with chopped veggies inside. The main dish, was a perfect blend of soft chicken pieces tossed over Indian style spicy masalas. If you love chicken, and spicy food as well then this is the thing for you.

EGG NAUTANKI-

I ordered this dish because I love egg preparations, and also due to its catchy name. Minced chicken and mutton kheema,  topped colourful chopped bell peppers, served in a base of egg white. The bit spicy mayo based sauce on the side was going great wtih the dish. The filling of the kheema with bell peppers was a good concept, and tasting great too. I always believe, nothing can go wrong in an egg preparation!

FISH FINGERS-

The dish was just delight fully presented. With the colourfull salad on one side, smooth mayo topped with a coriander leaf, and the main attraction, long and crunchy looking fish fingers! The taste was good, and dipped in the mayo, it enhances even further.

PIZZA INDIANA-

This was basically Tandoori panner topped pizza. It was a small 7inch crispy thin crust base. To be frank, the pizza looked so cute! That little base, generously topped with mouth watering tandoori cubes, green capsicum strips and onions, loaded with mozerella cheese! Just amazing! Loved it, and highly recommended! Wonder how yummy their chicken barbeque pizza would be!

They just have 4 varities of pizzas, and thats actually good because you dont get confused!

VEG.BALLS WITH SPICY CHEESE SAUCE-

Something totally new which I got to try. Basically they are balls with stuffing of majorly cottage cheese and some veggies, dipped in a super thick and spicy, cheese based sauce. The presentation was sweet and colourful, and I really couldnt resist myself form licking the tasty sauce off the plate. This can definately satisfy the curious foodie inside you, who keeps on looking new stuff to try.

Next, we got to try some really good drinks, which were.

MANGO TANGO-

A good fusion drink, with the combination of the sweetness of mango and the tangy flavour of orange pulp. It was milk based, which was like a cherry on top( literally! ) I would have loved if I could get a couple of more sips of it though!

ORANGE FLAVOUR VIRGIN MOJITO-

Beautifully presented, with the orange colour of the orange flavour, mixing up smoothly to produce this yellow-red coloured drink. Topped with a slice of lemon, sweet lime and mint leaves made it look good. The taste was refreshing, the mintness of virgin mojito, with the added citrusness of orange, simple yet remarkable!

Then, almost too full with these amazing starters, we had a comparitively light main course, which consisted of,

VEG SHAAM SAVERA-Its a medium spicy, papad based sabji, usually popular with the name Veg. Patiyala. Chopped mix vegetables, tossed with aromatic indian spices for great taste and spice factor. Punjabi food lovers would really like this sabji. And if, you vegetarians are just too tired with having panner and panner, every single time, then this might just be the thing for you!

DAL TAKDA- Delightfully yummy! Sone dishes are just plain too simple, yet their taste remains in out mind for long. This was the case with Dal Tadka. Thick daal, with masaledar tadka! Would go perfectly with Jeera rice

We had these dishes along with some warm butter rotis, ofcourse!

Finally, the little bit of space which was left in my tummy, was overloaded with delicious desserts.

MALAI KULFI-

The regular malai kulfi you would get at a reputed icecream shop. Smooth and yummy. If you dont want to get too messy with your dessert, and want to keep it plain and simple then go for it!

CARAMEL CUSTARD-

This was the best caramel custard I ever had! The thing was, every time I had caramel custard at some place, I would just compare them by how smooth and jelly-like the custard was. But here, at Rude Lounge, the custard was not only wobblingly smooth, but the added caramel syrup added a wonderful taste to it. Loved it!

So, in a nutshell, this place is just amazing! One, very important factor according to me is affordability, or value for money, and Rude Lounge passes exponentially well in this department! It serves mouth watering dishes, in a perfect setting, which is a great value for money. The rates are the same which you oay for any ordinary hotel/cafe, so why not pay the same, enjoying their hospitality, amazing lakeside view and rocking roof top ambiance!

Loved it throughly, and looking forward to getting delighted again, soon!

Happy Burping!
