Well, if you and your date decide to watch a movie especially on a special day like February 14th, I would earnestly suggest to you folks to think twice before deciding to go for a movie like Rudraksh!
In simple terms the movie makes a mockery of our rich mythological era of the Ramayana and also on the advancement of science. Experimentation is good, but then it should be atleast half-appealing! In this movie, it was virtually non-existent.
Let me jot down the reasons why I foresee this movie would fail miserably at the box office:
1) The story line is predictable and weak: The moment you start viewing the movie, you get the feel of the flow and you know for sure what would be its ending. Furthermore, the flow seems discreet and unconnected.
The story is a about a good Manushya (human for our Angezi audience!)- Sanjay Dutt and an evil Rakshasa (Demon)- Suniel Shetty, both of who posses supernatural powers. The Rakshasa wants to rule the world and for achieving the ultimate strength he needs to get hold of the Rudraksh (a holy seed, usually used for holy meditation by sages, to achieve nirvana). But for that, Suniel Shetty has to get the Rudraksh from Sanjay Dutt, as he is more powerful and not evil!
2) Acceptance from an Indian perspective: I could make out where the conceptualization is coming from. It’s an attempt to produce a Hindi movie in lieu with the Hollywood flick Matrix and combining it with some parts of Ramayana.
Now the question is will the Indian audience accept it? No, is a very clear answer! Firstly, you just cannot match up with a Hollywood blockbuster like Matrix and secondly, you cannot borrow and project the Great Ramayana. The Indian audiences are bound to compare and find faults and there will be a huge acceptance problem!
3) Special Effects leaves lot be desired: After a point of time of watching the movie, the special effects tend to get monotonous as they are almost the same over and over again!
Furthermore, it also gives an impression that they are packed in together – just like some people have the habit of stuffing their suitcase so much that it becomes difficult for them to close it finally!
4) Songs are misplaced: The songs are not at all situational and you will feel that they just have been inserted without much reasoning! Moreover, they don’t have even a tinge of melody and you probably will forget them once the movie is over, forget humming them at your leisure!
5) Skin that is unimpressive: Well, if you have the figure and curves, flaunt it! But flaunt it with a purpose. Someone please give me a microscope and help me find the purpose!
6) The actors are out of sorts: I got this feeling that such fine actors like Suniel Shetty and Sanjay Dutt to some extent, are wasted. They are not into their characters and it seems that their roles are not chalked out properly for them. There seems to be no variations and the intensity of the impact in acting out their characters is very soft.
Bipasha Basu tries hard to prove her mettle with skin and brains but in vain and Isha Kopikar looks dumb and spaced out!
Overall, a movie that you can wait till it appears in one of your TV channels!
Till next time,
Happy Valentine’s Day, Chhail Chhabila ;-)
