Don't RUN it on your PC

Most of the movies in bollywood nowadays are INSPIRED by English or Regional language films. But, Boney Kapoor and Sridevi are always “jara hatke”. Run wasn’t inspired by a film but my favourite Video Game : Mario. It was truly a nostalgic experience for me

Star Cast

Abhi – Shake Bacha(n) : Siddhu / Sidharth

Bhumika Chawla : Stella..no no Fatima…no no Jhanvi

Mahesh Manjerekar : Ganpat (Bhumika’s BIG B)

Ayesha Julka : Abhi-shake’s Sis

Mukesh Rishi : Ayesha’s husband

Vijay Raj : Abhi-shake’s so called friend

Story

All of you, who have played MARIO, no need to read the story as it’ll be a repetition for you. But still, let me just do the formalities of MS

STAGE 1 : Alpha to Beta

So, movie starts with Abhishek (Alpha) coming to Delhi for his studies, till now he has 0 points. In the bus, he finds his primary target Bhumika (Beta). It was a love at first sight, but Beta doesn’t give Alpha any “bhaav” as he doesn’t have much points. So, in 50% of the movie Alpha keeps approaching beta at various locations to gain bonus points and beta keeps dodging him. As Alpha keeps on scoring points, Beta starts liking him.

STAGE 2 : ACTION ARENA

As, Alpha crosses Stage 1, Mahesh Manjerekar (Devil) starts the difficulty level. Now, Alpha has to beat some goons sent by Devil, which he easily does. I guess Alpha must have learnt Taekwondo, Karate, Kick boxing and kung-fu in his infancy at Allahabad. He scores quite well in Action Arena and Beta finally falls for him

STAGE 3 : Roadrash / Need for Speed

Alpha goes to Devil’s Lair and kidnaps his sister Beta. But, Devil come to know about it. Then starts the game of Roadrash and Need for Speed. Since, Devil knows the cheat codes, he easily catches Alpha Beta.

LAST STAGE : FINAL ASSAULT

As per rules of the game, Alpha has to beat Devil to marry his sister beta. Since, there were no lifelines.. Alpha plays very carefully and beats Devil. As, devil gets defeated.. he sincerely hands over beta to alpha.

It was an amazing game. I wish that Sridevi and boney should launch an advanced version of the game. Where you can choose Sunny Deol , Sanjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty also as Alpha. How interesting no!!!

Performance

Abhishek Bachchan didn’t have much scope to perform, yet he could do much better. Just an average performance by him.

Bhumika’s role was taken as it is from Tere – Naam . She has to in act a beautiful , shy , Indian girl. Director just wanted to encash her face value. (Frankly speaking, that was the only reason why I watched the movie)

Mahesh Manjerekar’s performance was superb as a “Bhai”. His role was also more or less similar to one he did in “kaante”. He needs to graduate to another roles, else he’ll get typecasted as Bhai only.

Some of the brilliant actors like Mukesh Rishi (Sarfarosh fame) and Vijay Raaz (Monsoon wedding’s Dubey and Company’s Kauda Singh) were literally wasted. Mukesh Rishi was portrayed as an introvert and docile person. It doesn’t gel well with his personality.

Vijay Raaz jokes were passable, but his frequent flash backs to Maan-Babuji were irritating. Ayesha Julka hardly left any impression.

Music

Himesh Reshammiya`s music was again average, “Jara Jara” and “Dil mein jo baat hai” were above average.

Post Mortem

It was a big mistake done by Abhishek Bachchan to accept such a movie. Horrible concept with horrible script and horrible direction. There isn’t any logic used in the movie. Abishek Bachchan didn’t like his sister getting married to Mukesh Rishi because he doesn’t have a moustache? Even when Abhishek got older and was staying at his Jijaji’s place, they were not on talking terms because of years old hatred? Mahesh Manjerekar accepts Abhishek Bachchan for his sister just because he defeated him in a fight??? Wuff…

My only reason to watch the movie was to see Bhumika Chawla as I found her amazingly beautiful in Tere Naam. If you don’t think so, please please away from this movie you RUN.
