Love, Romance, Action, Fear, and Confrontation is the ingredients about this movie. It’s a simple film about complex situation.
A tall dark handsome guy (Abhishek Bachchan) falling in love with a beautiful and innocent looking girl (Bhumika Chawla) and the villain (Mahesh Manjrekar) is girl’s elder brother who is very possessive about his sister and can’t tolerate any boy proposing his sister, and what happens when love confronts the violence, is the main story of this movie.
Directed and cinematographed by Jeeva with Sreedevi Productions Run did not succeed in the box office. This movie is remake of the Tamil movie of the same name ‘Run’, which was a big hit.
Now running to the story of the movie, Siddharth cum Siddhu (Abhishek Bachchan) comes from Agra to Delhi for his further studies. In Delhi, he stays with his sister Shivani (Ayesha Julka) and brother-in-law (Mukesh Rishi). There he spots a beautiful girl name Jhanvi(Bhumika Chawla) and falls in love with her at first sight. He forwards his steps toward her but she wants to stay away, and the reason was she wants to save Siddhu from her over-possessive brother and gangster Ganpat (Mahesh Manjrekar), who bash up those guys who put their eyes on Jhanvi and a guy who followed her with love letter, had to lose his hand coz Ganpat chopped off his hand. But Siddhu is the guy headstrong who dares to take the challenges and the guy with no fear. Jhanvi too loves Siddhu but she don’t want to accept it due to the fear of her brother, but love is the feeling which can’t be hold in, so finally the love grows in them so deeply that they both confronts Ganpat and at last love wins, ya Siddhu and Jhanvi wins. That’s the main story, very much predictable while watching it but I gave it in short format and without including any songs in between… :D
But a hindi movie with love story and no songs how can it be… The most of the songs in this movie are merely dream sequenced added in the story. The romantic songs by Himesh Reshammiya’s are tuneful. The songs I liked most are:
: Dil mein jo baat hai keh doon, do u really feel the way I do – a beautiful number sunged by Alka Yagnik & Sonu Nigam
: Chain ho chain ho mere dil ka, sirf tum – again by Alka & Sonu Nigam
: Koi lagne laga hai pyaara, zara zara – sunged by Alka & Udit Narayan
Marking the characters of this movie:
The only one character that keeps on holding this movie is Abhishek Bachchan, is worth-watching. He plays the role of larger than life hero for the first time and watching him in this role is a treat. I can say this movie depends almost entirely on his support and his charms. While watching him in such action role in this movie somehow resembles to Amitabh Bachchan’s action movie.
Bhumika Chawla in the role of innocent looking girl is good but her performance not lightening much.
Mahesh Manjrekar in the role of gangster and over-possessive brother does suits to his personality but he was not up-to-the mark
Ayesha Jhulka & Mukesh Rishi playing the role of sister & brother-in-law role was ok. They were not much to do, so it was ok. You can watch Mukesh Rishi with an unusual get-up.
The comedy role of Vijay Raaz was not impressive and does not give any good taste.
In conclusion, I can say that I enjoyed watching this movie, specially for the strong performance given by Abhishek Bachchan. Overall the movie is average.
