There has been nothing less than greatness expected Ryan Giggs since Manchester City, were he played until he was fourteen years old, gave up the chance to sign him. Alex Ferguson quickly intervened taking him across town to United and City have been cursing themselves ever since. His League debut for Manchester United came on 2nd March 1991, against Everton at Old Trafford, as a substitute for Denis Irwin. His first League start was in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford at the end of the same season. Ryan was the first. Player to win the PFA Young Player of the Year twice and is still the youngest ever player to play for Wales at the age of 17 years and 321 days, when he came on as a substituteagainst West Germany.
At his peak Giggs was one of the most exhilarating sites in world football. One of the most talented players currently in world, his devastating speed on the wing with unrivalled skill made him one of the crown jewels of Old Trafford. Still a fantastic dribbler and passer, he can score goals, has over a decade of experience and knows his team mates and what is expected.
Better than anyone other than only Ferguson himself. And Giggsy is still for on a record ninth championship medal which will make him stand alone in football history. There is every chance that Giggs will surpass that record and more - he is already Manchester Uniteds most successful ever player. Ive said this before to people who worry Giggs is past it. Having watched clips of his videos since he first broke into the team I really think hes playing as well as he ever has - possibly better. He still has pace and moves smoothly but now he reads the game so much better.
This means he chooses his runs more wisely (so doesnt need to fly up and down the wing all game) and has more awareness of team mates. First touch and passing also seem better than ever. When he was younger he would often be spectacular but then also go missing in other games. Hes more subtle now but far more consistent for the team. Legend - hope he goes on and on! Giggs is a special player and hes won more medals than I can count. Hes been incredible for us and hes always looked the part against the very best, putting fear into many of them.
I remember saying two years ago that Ferguson should buy a replacement for Giggs and his dodgy hamstring. What an idiot! Hes as good as he ever was and better than he was 2/3 years ago. The fledglings may be getting the odd grey hair now, but Giggs, Gary Neville and Scholes know how to use all that experience - all that Ferguson grit and determination. They, and Giggs in particular, are still as good as anyone in their positions in the league. Ive watched him play sat Old Trafford and I must say Ryan Giggs is one the all time great attacking players.
Every time opponents or age threatened to get the better of him, he responded in emphatic fashion. Without doubt the best winger Ive ever scene with my own eyes. Giggs is one of the greatest players I have ever had the privilage to watch. His loyalty is unquestionable, chosing his home country of Wales over the chance to qualify for England is a testiment to the man! He is the Left sided player that I feel all England fans have been dreaming off for the last 10 years. He still plays like hes 17, hes the most decorated player in premiership history.
Is irraplacable, and in my opinion, the one man who should have replaced Keano as Captain (no offence to Gary, who has also been a die hard loyal player and captain thus far!!) May he long continue cutting up the left flank of OT a model pro, and a shining example to Ronnie, Rooney, Fletcher etc. I think he is one of the few Man Utd players that even non Man Utd fans appreciate. I do think that, given his record, he has not recieved as much acclaim as he deserves. Its a real shame that Wales havent (and dont look likely to)qualify for a major tournament during his time.
No team in Europe ever wanted to come across Giggs in the 90’s; he was the embodiment of our flying home displays back then. Great dribbler, Fantastic with set piece delivery (I hate Rio Ferdinand) great crosser can finish when matters and lucky Man Utd for having such a good servant, Really cruel that he was never recognised on the world stage his respect for opposition is what makes him special gosh did I say that!! If Ryan has a day, United wins! That’s true! Giggsy was more important than Roy Keane or Paul Scholes. Ryan is the biggest player of all times.
Maradona or Pelé times football was an easier than now or in 90s. I really think that Ryan Giggs is the best football player in history and he is most underrated player! His crossing, shooting, passing, heading, running, his everything is in the highest and the top class quality. Ryan Giggs and Zizou are the icons of modern football many of his greatest moments up there and THAT goal. Seeing as I cant stand Arsenal it was all the more sweet. Genius. Giggs sparked us into action, perhaps even more so.
He instantly provided an attacking thrust down the left, and through the middle when he cut inside. Giggs has always been an important player for us, but perhaps now more than ever because of his experience Giggs will be remembered at OT for a long time after he retires. The critics said without pace, Giggs would be nothing. I certainly delighted that he is proving his critics wrong with some outstanding displays this season. Is Giggs playing his best football at the moment of his United career than he ever has? That is a big question has he has been a colossus (spelling) for us for the last 15 or so years a true living legend.
