A real no-frills airline

We flew the Irish airline, Ryan Air, in May 07 from Dublin to Edinburgh - during the flight, we realised what a truly no-frills airline is supposed to be.

The check-in was smooth but the check-in counter was crowded. We landed at Dublin airport at 4:30 am and were surprised to find the airport chock-a-block with passengers of Ryan air. We had to ask people to find the counter for Edinburgh - there were no clear directions and there were many early Ryan air flights.

Our first reaction was that we may miss our flight due to the amazing number of people flying Ryan air. But thankfully, we were the first in the check-in line for the Edinburgh flight.

Ryan air has a policy of not sharing luggage weight with co-passengers. As a result, we had to pay for excess luggage(though we were mentally prepared for that). But due to this, our low-cost flight cease to be cheap, and was almost the same price as Aer Lingus.

Nevertheless the boarding was smooth. But when we took our seat(it was free seating), we realised that all the seats do not have a bag/glove attached to seat back. Hence we could not keep anything there. The security manual was attached to the back of the headrest of the front seat.

There was nothing else too in/on the seat - no cushion, magazine, blanket, wet tissue, or even water. The on flight snacks were limited and we didn’t bother about them. Hence, we had no interaction with the air hostesses.

Overall, the flight was fine. Thankfully it landed on time. I recommend that you weigh your luggage before flying with Ryan Air.
