Pathetic film

Sometimes, an interesting idea loses its sheen due to inept execution. That’s precisely what happens with Sawaan The love season .The story had all the trappings of an edge of the seat experience, but the screenplay lets you down completely. Also, the finale - which should’ve been a highpoint for a film of this genre - is absolutely tame.

The movie starts with Raj (Kapel Jhaveri) meeting Kajal in Cape Town, where both have come -- separately -- for a holiday. The new lovers also realise their fathers are friends. TWhen they come back to Mumbai, Kajal bumps into Salman, who promptly saves her life, predicts her father’s death and rescues her niece from a terrorist.

And Salman predicts Kajal will die in a week. Does his prediction come true? The answers were so strange that they only raised further questions......

There’s hardly any movement in the first half of the film. Even the love story – boys falling in love with girl – shows no movement in the first half. It is only towards the second half that things get moving, but too many tracks – specially the Johny Lever track – looks forced and completely out of place.

The Salman Khan song could’ve proved to be a major attraction, but its picturisation seems like a rushed job. Also, the set on which this number is picturised is tacky.

Salman tries hard to infuse life in his character and he succeeds partly. Kapil is strictly okay. Saloni is alright.

On the whole, Sawaan has been released without any hype whatsoever. Even otherwise, the film lacks in merits to sustain in the coming days.
