A Blue Film

I know the title sounds shocking, but, yes, Saawariya is just that. Well I’m calling it a’blue film’ only because everything is’blue’ in the film! Night is blue so is the day, the bridge is blue so are the cobbled stones and path, now that I think about it even though Rani Mukherji wore a beautiful red sari I think it was blue! Sonam’s clothes looked of midnight blue color!

My husband and I watched the movie on the second day itself only because we had earlier liked Mr.Bhansali’s movies. I even tried to like the movie! But try as I might I could not appreciate anyone except Zohra Sehgal and Rani Mukherji!

Looks like Sanjay Leela Bhansali made a movie to satisfy his own personal whims and fancies and it clearly shone through the movie that he had self indulged and his ego seems to be so high that he thought that he can make anything he wants and people will come watch, but sorry Sanjay, we all go out to the theaters to get entertained whether its emotionally entertained or comically but we do want VALUE for our money and I was so disappointed with what you did with 2 newcomers who had hope in you and blindly followed your blue vision!

Its a shame that such talented directors who can ask for the best scripts, the best actors, are capable of promoting their films so well, end up making a shoddy film.
