Thirupachi might have been junk material and still went on to make a lot of money. But when you are talking about Sachien, it is definitely a better movie but might not make any money. And thats how the movie industry works. Unpredictability is the name of the game! To put matters straight, Sachien is a wholesome entertainer.
It is a story of a college going youth, Sachin, played superbly by Vijay who enjoys life in the best possible way. His playful vibes with a real cutie, Shalini, played by the Boys fame girl Genelia is pleasing to watch. Their simple differences, the ego clashes, gentle taunts and college love is taken admirably well. No doubt any guy who goes to the movie will fall in love with the lovely smile of Shalini. Sachin and Shalini both are in love with each other but Shalini does not profess her love for Sachin entirely due to ego problems. Obviously she would express her love for Sachin is very well known to all the viewers(thats what Indian movies are made of!!). But what is it that holds back Shalini from reaching out to Sachin forms the crux of this movie.
Vijay is having a ball of a time at the box office. First Gilli, then Thirupachi and now Sachien(though it hasnt received favourable reviews) should put Vijay on top in Tamil cinema for quite some time. His penchant for coming up with casual performance is finding rave reviews from his fans. He might not be a superstar of Tamil cinema but he has created a niche for himself among his wide array of fans in Tamil Nadu. Genelia is acting in her second movie after Boys and she has acted pretty well. It is not just song and dance sequence that she has featured for in this movie. Vadivel has come up with very good comedy sequences. He has certainly come off ages in the last few movies. The music is not sensational and the direction is lucid. There is nothing much to rave about cinematography or dance sequences.
Overall, Sachin is a movie that can be watched by anyone. It is easily better than the previous masala - Thirupachi!!
Dont miss it!!
