Hai all....
saw sachins column here 165 reviews so far ..that itself goes on to show how great this man is....z plenty of this kind have been done on him....let me try my hand on him...i havent read the other reviews in MS except kalils so if there is any repetition of things plz dont mind....
sachin tendulkar the god of cricketing religion in india.....best ever batsman, one and the only person compared to Sir Don bradman the run making machine.....wats so special in him that no other cricketer doesnt have....... whether these statements r all true ???…..
Sachin to my mind has earned all these honours ...and appreciations not only because of his talent, hardwork, performances…. ..but also by his down to earth behaviour.....he is a simple and humble star…. cleanest cricketer atleast among the famous players …no probs with him watsoever(on and off the field….Lara is no bad than sachin tendulkar but wats the diff between these two....sachin is a highly humble person still staying in the same flat where he lived even before he started playing....but on the contrary lara has a big bunglow of his own near his home ground trinidad...….(but this doesnt mean that a player shud never raise his status to become popular......i wanted to give an example of his humble behaviour…)
CONSISTENCY
His consistency is the best thing in his game .......he is so consistent enough that everytime when he is being criticised he had answered his critics in style ....his stats speaks volumes about his consistency....350 matches -70 fiftys, 38 centuries means a score of 50 plus in every third inning simply royal stuff......best ever stats in contemporary cricket…
CRICKETING BRAIN:
His cricketing brain is so sharp that he adapts to the situation so quickly...he has his own trade mark shots like his paddle sweep to fine leg(not exactly a sweep)..the technique behind it is simply great...whenever he plays it his backfoot goes right in front of the legstump covering it and I havent seen anybody playing it so finer than our master...same way his usage of lofted cut over the slip cordon using the bounce during the southafrican tour ....and his down the crease lofted shots of warne (who can forget those...) he keeps on innovating things…During the 2003 world cup sachin used a different sort of bat wherein the distribution of weight is altered and the top portion of the bat was made a bit heavier than the bottom in order to cope up the bounce of the SA pitches....these r simply splendid examples his cricketing brain, commitment and the amount of homework he does before going for matches.....
MATCH WINNER:
People say sachin is not a match winner...unlike steve waugh , Lara, inzi etc.., who always guide their team to victory in most difficult situations......i dont agree with this point.....coz everybody knows there was an era wherein India means sachin...even many said Indian team is a ONE MAN ARMY...Steve commented we lost to one man when he lost the sharjah cup(1998).......i also feel one more thing actually conceals the fact sachin is a match winner ..He is opening the innings which makes a match look like an easy one whenever he goes good...and whenever he fails the situation looks so much out of control and people due to their over expectation from sachin say..he ditched the whole match........But if u see all the other mentioned players they r all middle order players coming at 2 down, etc..., so when they come and play ......their efforts r clearly visible that brings sachin to downer side in comparison with those(The very fact that sachin has got highest number of MOMs simply says he had won many matches for his country than any other cricketer…But don’t say that he had played more matches that’s why..coz he had achived this feat long before..)but he is no less to anybody in cricket.........even to sir don bradman....
COMPARISON WITH SIR DON:
I remember one article which I read in The Hindu...wherein the author said sachin is greater in comparison with sir don bradman....he backed his statement with the stats which said Sir don has played only in 9(i dont remember exacty)venues altogether in his career ...against 4 nations only....and most of the time he faced same bowlers in his career ...with 100 %agmark manual umpiring with no help from technologies...he argued in such a situation...how many decisions cud have gone in favour of him.(considering the reputation of don)...whereas sachins case is totally different ..within india we r having more than nine venues ....each match he is facing a new bowler with a new strategy formed against after completing enough study on his batting styles with the help of technology.....and with so many cameraas and third and fourth umpires around him.....sachin is really doing a good job.....and to me also the author found right justifying sachins greatness over don bradman( if u r a fan of sachin it will be pleasing to accept it..but generally speaking may be he his wrong .again not sure......)
OTHER THAN BATTING:
Added to these he is a good bowler though not a great one I can put it this way…he is an useful bowler… he had produced some great and memorable deliveries ….he has proved his bowling strengths then and there…and he is being rightly called as the partnership breaker…he is the one who took us to the victory gate in the kolkatta test by taking three important wickets in the last session…he has taken two crucial wickets in the famous adelaide test….
sachins great deliveries… if u ask me..i always have two of them in my mind…
First one is the delivery which bowled lara in the titan cup(kumbles best figure match 6/12)
Second one is the last delivery of the thirdday bowling moin khan round his legs…..
(Indias tour to pakistan)
Fielding efforts, no need to say..though he is not an acrobatic fielder like our youngsters he is a good deep fielder with reliable arm intimidating the batsmen who wishes to go for twos or threes…
CAPTAINCY:
Apart from all these sachin cudnt succeed in his captaincy..but I wont attribute all of the failures to his captaincy alone....coz that was a period when indian team had a miserable combination of players.....i still remember the indias tour of australia under his captaincy with nobody cud ever withstand aussie bowling ..and sachin alone putting a solitary fight against the aussies inspite of the umpires biased nature against him....i wud say him as the unluckiest captain ....but I don’t know whether he wud have been as sucessful as saurav if he had been given our talented team…
IS HE SELFISH????
One big controversy against our master is that people always say he is selfish....i too agree to some extent he is selfish...because I watched ball by ball live when he got his very first century against australia....but then one has to look after his own records ..ultimatley which is wat gives confidence to a player in himself.....but when his selfishness affects teams results then that is clearly not fair…d , , ..and I dont remember any incidents like that(being a hardcore fan of sachin I may be biased in looking into this….....)
