He is the most favourite sportsman in India of all time. No questions asked.
Does he deserve all the praise he is getting. My humble opinion is not.
What are my points?
He is not a match winner in crucial times. He has won matches in 28 of his 38 centuries in ODI. When did they occur? Did he win us a single final? No.
He is a Panick-er (Not the famous astrologers from Kerala) when situation demands. I could never forgive him for the loss in Chennai against pakistan. What was the use of hitting 115 odd runs when he could have stayed for few more minutes to win the match.
His immaturity and outburst to pull the entire team down when he was denied 6 runs. He has been in the media for 16 years to behave better. What if one person made a mistake unintentionally for the betterment of the team. Rahul made a great decision which could’ve played a factor in Pakistan’s fall in the first test.
People follow him like anything just like the rats followed the pied piper of hamlin. Is he doing the right thing to the public? No.
Why? He could have given a lot of money to India as tax, had he paid the customs duty for the Ferrari. Did he set an example? No.
Second point. He has a court case against his former auditor who audited him and who knows his secrets when he got some loan and didn’t pay back as an auditor’s fee, he sued him.
He is not very mature to lead the Indian Team.
Sometimes he makes you wonder whether he is just after records like Sunil Gavaskar of yesterday. Ultimately he will break all records. He may even break Matt Hayden’s record too oneday. Why does he have to make an issue out of it.
He has made India proud and one example for making India Shine. Is he an ideal citizen? Will he deserve the Bharat Ratna when it is ultimately confirmed on him in next 20-40 years?
I think he needs to make a case. He needs to return to the society. He needs to pay the government. He needs to set a public trust to uplift the down trodden. He needs to set up a role model and a leading path to become the best citizen in the nation.
He has the chance to do all this. Does he do that? Well it remains to be seen.
I am sure all the diehard fans will rate this low. Believe me I am a diehard fan of Sachin too and have missed many days sleep to watch him play. CHeered him hit a sixer or a four.
