Here is this small eatery, tucked away in Bandra east right oppsite teh MIG cricket club. for those of us not Bombay initiated (like me), you gotta take a right from the first flyover on the western express highway, and take the road on the right of the MHADA building and keep following it till you reach this place on your left.
the ambience is that of a, say, Maharashtrian dhaba. the daily specials are written on blackboards in a very nice devanagri hand. these folks will also accomodate large groups, if you give them a few minutes. have eaten at this place twice and have not seen empty tables here.
if you are imagining a place with a great ambience and the luxuries, then you will be dissappointed. however, if you come here for just good food and value for money - get here fast.
went there a few fridays ago in a group. we ordered a few fish thalis and assortment of fired fish - pomfret, prawns (they are miniscule), surmai, rawas and bombil (bombay duck). they are all fried with the same masala and they all taste absolutely fabulous. we also ordered some more fish, a few prawn pulaos, and a crab masala. the crab was small - but cooked well. the prawns pulao cd be given a pass - suggest you go with plain steamed rice.
the service is efficient and curteous. the place is not airconditioned and is a bit warm. however, that doesnt seem to stop people from coming here either. go and have your lunch there, if you like fish. you will have fun.
