Now a days almost everyone has one or more Credit cards/Debit cards.
More important than having a credit card is being able to use the credit card.
And then comes the factor being able to use the credit card in a safe manner.
The above three issues are inter-related and are of the concern for every one who has or wishes to have a credit card.
Why do I need a credit card ? what facility does it provide to me.
The answer to the above question is
Being able to spend more than what I have in my pocket.
Being able to spend it online (i.e., without going to the shop ...)
As you can see the above answer is very attractive !!!
But the above facility comes with a catch that you should be able to spend without being the prey to elements who wish to do the above two on your account.
Now a days many sites offer to accept your credit card for their payment
For eg.
The Railway Booking offered by Indian Railways through IRCTC
Baazee
FirstandSecond.com
and many
When Must I be careful :
The answer to the above question is Always , but especially when
you do online transaction see to it that you are on a secure website.
While drawing cash in an ATM (see for any extra thing that might be recording your data from the magnetic strip that can be replicated later on to make a credit card just like yours)
While answering any mail from your credit card provider stating to give your card number and pin ... The credit card company never asks you to give your pin number. The pin is a very secret and personal thing that must not be revealed to any one!!!
While transacting in any place see to it that everything happens before your eyes and the shopkeeper does not take it somewhere inside ...
Never loose the card . But if you do ... then inform it as soon as possible to the credit card company so prevent any further damage ...
Check your account frequently and if you detect any suspecious transaction do inform to concerned ...
