We visited Saffron Spice when it had just opened. We lived in Hiranandani then. So, out of curiosity we decided to dine there along with our child. The ambience was great. But the customer service and food left us aghast. Really for the price that we were paying for a cocktail, didnt expect it to come in a "8 PM" glass( I think 8 pm is whiskey brand and the glass was a free glass which the hotel had received). The price of the cocktail was comparable to coctails in the nearby Rodas & Rennaissance.
But the best was yet to come. we ordered for a boneless fish. The server got us fish with bones in it, so we told him very politely that we had ordered for a boneless fish. The guy says sorry and walks back to the kitchen and comes back in 2 minutes, with the same dish only he has taken off the fish bones and brought back the same dish in a mess. We were both speechless and surprised. Either the staff was really naive or just too smart.
For the first time, I found my husband tongue-tied in a restaurant. We both had a good laugh, decided not to get into any argument with the staff and never to return back. We moved out of India so we didnt really hear much of this place. But recently I met another friend from Hiranandani who had a real bad experience with the staff. THis time she had arranged for a farewell dinner with friends when the manager refused to admit any of her guests who came in after 8.30 pm. In a place like mumbai with all the traffic & road problems, this seemed to be unfair. So, my friend actually cancelled the party on the spot and called all the friends and moved to Rodas.
So, thats the story of Saffron Spice for us....
