OOPS!! I almost got operated

I wanted to write this for long time. Sagar Appollo is not a hospital, it is like anyother business house where even doctors seem to have been given revenue targets. They look for a victim and try to suck as much money as they can.

Here is what happened to me, this happened almost 18 months back. One morning I had sever pain in my abdomen and I rushed to Sagar Appollo becuase it was the closest hospital that I could find. They did ultrasound and found out that I have some kidney stone problem and I must get admitted for a day. I got admitted, No problem, spent a day in the hospital and went back home next day. No complaints. All was good.

Next day I came to meet the specialist for diagnosis, he looked at the ultra sound and asked me to go for CT SCAN. I did not know what CT SCAN is meant for. Any way spent almost Rs. 3500/- got CT SCAN Done. Met the specialist next day. He looked at the CT SCAN, looked at me at the same time and made a face as if I was going to die next day. He said, I have stones in the bladder and in both tubes that join kidneys, anyone can get blocked anytime, I must go for operation immediately. I was stunned, I was advised by the doc to get admitted next day. I was all set to admitted next day. Got ready, took leave from office but by the time I reached hospital Doctor had left(by God’s grace, I was lucky). Sicne I could not meet him I decided to get admitted next day.

Went back to office and narrated the doctor’s advice to one of my colleague. He advised me to take a second opinion in nearby hospital called’Kidney Foundation’ in Banashankari. Since I was on leave and had not much to do in office, I went to Kidney foundation. There I met the head of this institute. I narrated the whole story to this doctor and handed over, ultra sound reports, CT Scan reports. He looked very puzzled. I was shocked when he told me that I had the stone only in the bladder and one stone in one of the tube. And the size of the stone was so tiny that in no way I could block the tube. I needed no surgery no medicine. Only medicine that I needed was to drink as much water as possible and stone will dissolve by itself. He told me all I needed was a Rs. 100/- X-RAY. There was absolutely no need for any CT-SCAN.

I NEVER WENT BACK TO SAGAR APPOLLO. I AM ALIVE.

After that I have heard dozens of such experiences from otheres in Sagar Appollo. If in emergeny no problem in visiting this place, but if there is major thing involved or a treatment is involved please do take a second opinion.
